Mot on a used car

So I spend £14,000 and then in less than 2 months I take it back for them to tell me if it's road worthy. Seems fair I guess. Fool and his money I guess.

Is this your first car purchase? It's pretty much how car ownership goes, except for those who only buy cars <3 years old.

Unless you've bought an absolute nail (entirely possible I suppose, you seemingly haven't even asked about it's service history, just assumed it must have been serviced), that sentence should read:

So I spend £14,000 and then in less than 2 months I take it to any MOT centre I want to get a certificate confirming it's road worthy. Any issues that does raise will likely be covered by the remaining new car warranty or approved used/extended warranty.

Sounds good! It has 2 years warranty.

Before you take it in, just check the typical 'first MOT' failure items like wipers, tyres, bulbs etc.

It's unlikely a three year old car is going to be failing for suspension or emissions or things like that

For your information, they just called me back and said they would never sell a car without 6 months MOT. They are giving me a certificate so I can get it done at any dealer centre for free.

There you go told you they were the ones
To talk to
Glad it worked out in the end

Road safety.
Wut?

Car is currently completely legal. It will probably pass the MOT and it's unlikely to fail on anything significant if it doesn't. But you bought it with full knowledge of the facts. A simple "when is the MOT due" or even just checking it online yourself would have informed you of this.

Why didnt you ask this?
