Whatever you do, do not get the Official Sony Thumb grip.

1 - You can't change battery without taking it off
2 - You can't use a tripod without taking it off

It's crap.

Battery grip makes the camera quite bulky, I have a Small Rig and a Lim's Leather case and I prefer the leather case (it has a metal frame underneath) with access to battery door and tripod mount is still centred but moved back a little. It adds enough height to the body so my pinky has a place to go.

Small Rig is heavier and also taller. It moves the tripod mount off centre.

Awesome @Raymond Lin for that info i was debating a cheaper battery grip for when at track just cos more batteries on me , and a smallrig or something for daily , i saw the price of the sony grip and was like no Ty LOL . my tripod is arca swiss based so the small rig makes the best sense.

The smallrig on the R4 is great but I don't like it on the A9. If you use the anchor on the bottom I've seen it come loose for a few people, almost got me first time out but luckily I caught it. it was always coming loose and twisting in the hand too. The r4 one has a better lip so doesn't do this. I opted for the battery grip on the A9 which suits me as I mainly use the 135mm and 200-600 so it feels comfier with these, would be strange with smaller lenses.

Sony have confirmed the A7siii (mrk XXXVI :p) is due this summer. Keen to see how it compares to the R5, especially as they said it would go beyond expectations a while back....

What used to be a UK
I decided I might be better off with the FE 90mm macro than the Laowa but there's no stock anywhere? Would this be due to the virus? MPB had one in but that was fetching £798.00 which is rediculous really given the full price has £100.00 knocked off in perfect condition with an extended warranty. The one from MPB comes with a minor amount of dust and a six month warranty - which is stupid.

Who’s picking up the 12-24 F2.8 GMaster lens?
I have a cheap Sigma 12-24 which occasionally gets used for an interior room photo or landscape. The new Sony 12-24 looks awesome but it’s very specialised, I can’t image many people need F2.8 in such a wide lens and have £3k drop on it.

A lot of the people who buy this lens will be amateur enthusiast gear-heads with compulsive lens buying habits.

I'm not sure about that, it's makes perfect sense to have say 12-24, 24-70, 70-200.. the only downside is the price but tbh things are not getting cheaper these days!

I actually bought a 14-24 2.8 Nikon lens before my first trip to Iceland years ago, I wasn't sure if I'd use it much but it turned out to be one of my most used lenses... it was great for Northern Lights, Ice Caves and Landscapes etc etc. Still rate it as one of my Favourite Nikon lenses and that was a 14-24 this is a 12 :)

Sony has a lot of wide angle options - the 12-24 F4 would be a better choice for most people, for less than half the price.
