Has anyone on here owned one of these and if so what the performance was actually like?

There's not much out there in terms of comparisons and it seems to be a very limited item.

Only info I can find is forum posts saying it's ~5degC better than anything else which sets alarm bells ringing, but it does seem to be specifically designed for Ryzen (I assume it's the AMD block you're looking at) which may actually be true if it's a larger cooling area compared to other blocks.

It's the Intel block i'm looking at, im in the market to replace mine at the moment and this particular block popped up so wanted to do some digging before i committed. It's that or the new EK Quantum range but the EK range has gotten a lot more expensive...

any recommendations?

I'm currently running an old Bitspower Summit EF which isn't that great to begin with compared to others.

Up until this evening I had never even heard of them so after some googling I found some saying a 5-6 degrees C reduction in temps but nothing to back up these claims. I then came across this review of the Intel block tested on a 9900k clocked to 5Ghz and while it was the best performing block it was by less than a degree which is far more believeable. I don't think there will be any big advances in performance until somebody comes up with a radically different design of block. Until then I reckon we are only going to see improvements measured in tenths of a degree. One thing that did come out from that review is that it is the most restrictive block on the list, even more than my Eisblock XPX which is restrictive as hell. My personal thoughts are that it's a fine looking block with a good mounting system and the 10 year warranty is very welcome but it's a lot of money for a fraction of a degree better than the other best performing blocks and I don't think it's worth the money. If I was going to buy a new CPU block right now I would be getting the Watercool Heatkiller IV Pro copper or copper ni which is much cheaper and less than a degree off the Optimus.

Cheers for this Pasty, this is the exactly what i wanted haha for someone to confirm with me. The price tag really doesn't reflect the performance, though you're right it is a rather good looking block without the logos if wanted as well. I'm gonna look up the watercool heatkiller now and see what i think. Anything is gonna be better than my bitspower block i think, just a shame it doesn't perform as good or i would keep it.

Go to overclock.net water cooling section and review the optimus thread for detail on experiences on this block. It is an interesting read.
