I have Amazon prime being used through my Virgin tivo box hardwired to the router via a switch (500 MB). So why does 4k and hdr come and go randomly ? Checked speed 588 mbps but prime not even offering 1080 which is un watchable on a 65 oled ... I can not find any 4k content at the moment . where as it used to have its own section .

Yeh seems that way. I was watching an epesode of the Expance last night in uhd hdr. Put it back on this evening and only offered sd quality. Which as i mentioned is un watchable on a 65" oled .. Very strange!

Dont use prime much typically, but have been watching Mr Robot recently. It's really starting to annoy me how cumbersome it is compared to Netflix. Why do I have to watch a trailer every single time i play an episode. I have to be careful which version of the program I select or it doesnt send me to the correct episode. I also get double clicks sometimes and mis-navigate. Or I get quality drop outs, on a 500mb connection. I've been spoiled with how slick netflix is. Maybe it's just a poor app version on my LG tv.
No Amazon Prime is diabolical to navigate. Disney+ has gone down the same poor horizontal scrolling. (Done well on Netflix) only reason you can find stuff easier on Disney+ is there is hardly any content compared to the others.
Scroll through enough films on Amazon Prime and you get into those types of films you used to browse in a video store, you know the ones with a fabulous looking cover that make the film look brilliant but when you watch it there is a cast of 5, no script, little fx and terrible music.

Amazon make the stupid mistake of treating their 4k content as a "separate listing" along side the regular stuff. I mean, they even treat Seasons as different listings.
This is where Netflix gets it right, you find a title, no need to search for the season you want and that title will play at the maximum resolution possible (bandwidth and hardware) and use HDR10 / Dolby Vision as and when the hardware is capable.
It really is a joy just finding a title in Netflix, hitting play, seeing the stream hit 4k with HDR/DV on.
As far as I know Amazon still haven't updated their app for the PS4 Pro to support 4k content - so you cannot actually search for the 4k content.
You could try to be sneaky, find the content via an app that supports 4k and add it to your watchlist - play back on the PS4 Pro and it's only playing at 1080p

I don't think the horizontal scrolling is much of an issue. It's more of a fact that Amazon try to lump/surround their prime content with other media that you have to purchase or rent.
I would actually be interested to know how many users of Amazon Prime video actually make purchases directly through prime video as opposed to going directly to the Amazon store. Should give them enough ammunition to make the Prime video interface just for prime video content, so that you know every title you're looking at is available to you.
Also as another poster said, it's so annoying having to watch previews of other content before another episode loads up, haven't looked to see if this can be disabled yet. Same with skipping the intros and recap, i think Netflix has some AI implemented that it automatically skips a recap if you go straight on to the next episode. - Which seems painstakingly obvious, if you've just watched an episode, the last thing you need is a recap if what you've just seen.

Pretty much all Amazon software is janky. We've got kindles, fire tablets, Echo's, fireTV and use prime video and none of them have a slick user experience. Prime video and the TV sticks are the best of the bunch. Their tablets are terrible.

It's taken them until last week to introduce profiles - now when I log into Prime on the PS4 Pro it at least now asks who is watching and each user can have their own watch list etc.

Profiles are pretty useless so far. I want my youngest to be on a kids' profile - fine, that works. But I want my 10 year old to be on a profile where he can watch up to a 12 rating - but I can't specify the cert limit on individual profiles, only individual devices, and so setting a 12 limit applies it to all adult accounts.
I only use Prime for specific stuff I want to watch these days. I never bother going in to browse for something new because it's not a fun experience.
The player interface has been updated too so it's more like Netflix and doesn't require half a dozen button presses just to rewind 10 seconds.
It does all feel a bit clunkier than it used to (which is saying something) but hopefully they're optimising it.
Amazon really need to invest some care into their video service because it is so badly ignored. I watch it via a Roku box on my current 1080p Sammy and sometimes HD content (ie Supernatural) plays back in 720p. It is quite jarring.
I eventually found an around the houses way of finding the sometimes hidden uhd/hdr content. Have to do a manual search then it brings up the sd/hd and uhd/hdr options,as it seems they dont want you to find it. Probably at peak viewing times.
Agree this is the easiest way. Then add to watchlist. I don't watch a massive amount of Prime content but I share the years sub with someone else & the other benefits are well worth it.

Streaming services are garbage. Seriously. proper profile management and UIs that actually make sense is not something they should still be struggling with after years of operation. It's a joke.
I have the profiles on my main TV, so missus is using hers.
The fire stick upstairs doesn't have profiles, so she can't continue her series of stuff, as they don't link and update.
Anyone have profiles in their fire stick yet?
Seems stupid to not roll it all out across all devices, as it's making itmit difficult currently! (1st world problems huh)
