Re the post about Bilt Hamber Korrosol.. Some good looking results there.. What's the difference between Korrosol and bh auto wheel which I love..

Apparently according to BH, auto wheel has more degreasing power and higher viscosity.

This is right yeah :)

I believe Korrosol is best if you want to use it on both wheels and paint whereas Autowheel is better for just specifically wheels

You can use a hairdryer to help remove the damage. There's quite a few threads/videos online about it

Thanks Dale, I'll give that a try on one of the smaller areas and see how I get on thanks.

Ive been out to the car this morning and noticed that those pesky flying rats have been at it again overnight and I have a couple of fresh white splats on my bonnet! What's the best approach to this situation so that it doesnt get baked on like I foolishly left it last time. I wont have a chance to wash it properly until the weekend now so ideally need a quick fix to get it off.

You do not want to be scrubbing it, it will be abrasive to your paint.

Those bird poop wipes are just like a wet wipe, you can lay them on it for a minute or so till the poop lifts but don't scrub at it.

I've also wet some paper towel and placed that on it in a similar way, waiting for it to lift.

....they also allow you to do a very quick and true "touchless" wash. I've just been out on my lunch break and snowfoamed the car with the pressure washer from the hose as normal, then plugged the PW into the filter to rinse the foam off afterwards...and I'm done. Just going to leave it to dry. I know you're only meant to use the filter for a final rinse without the PW, to save the resin. But I figure, if the final rinse is just blasting off the snow foam, then I haven't really used any more water through it.

It not a substitute for a proper wash, but when the car isn't too grubby and has a decent wax coat, then it's great to be able to give it a quick once over without touching the paintwork.

It's probably a small chance, I read about it while researching.

It's the maiden voyage of mine tomorrow, I've plumbed it all in with it's own line and a 15m hose. Can't wait.

I could never bring myself to just snowfoam, dwell and rinse off, then be done with it.

If you are getting all the gear out then surely going round with a bucket of shampoo and a wash mitt would add mere minutes to the process.

I was doing two cars, and my one wasn't that dirty. It doesn't get driven much now, and gets more dusty than anything, and given that it has a decent coat of wax, it basically came out completely clean after just the snow foam and rinse.

Don't get me wrong, there's no substitute for a proper wash if the car is dirty, but during the summer, if I can get away with just a regular snow foam and rinse, then I'm all for it...and it saves some contact with the paintwork, too. Water filter let's me do that becuase it means I dont have to towel dry, which would have course mean a proper wash every time.

In my never ending quest to find my all time favorite tyre dressing I've just ordered some Swissvax Pneu (and it's own applicator, naturally) Also bought (a forth) Wheel Woolie. I absolutely love these things and since having the wheels refurbished they've been spot on for keeping the complete wheel clean every wash. I'm sure the ceramic coating helps too :)

Had a chap come and look at our cars tonight with a view to getting them polished and ceramic coated.

Not cheap, but keep thinking by the time I’ve bought stuff to try and do it myself, then actually try and find the time to do it all (with an 8 week old that’s not happening), it seems more appealing!

Wife’s car is brand new and the paint is shocking on it, swirl city!

Honestly if he's good reputable detailer it might be worth it. Then you can look after it yourself. It's not as simple as getting the tools and going at it, experience is very important.. with cutting and ceramics.

Oh yes I know it’s more than just having the stuff, frankly I’m at a point in life I’d rather just pay someone to do it!

He’s using the new Autosmart Matrix stuff, one of the coatings has an 8 year warranty!

Can anyone recommend me a decent black trim restorer please? I'm looking to do the trim around the windows, and the trim on the bottom of the back bumper on my Mk3 Octavia.

The window trim is smooth, and the bumper trim is rough if that makes any difference? Thanks.
