The kiosk isn't new. They've been in selected Currys PC World stores for years. Probably cordoned off because of Covid. Or maybe it's due to be removed ahead of the PS5 launch?

Can't say I've ever seen it, still seems random I mean if it related to PS4 I'd be surprised it's still there and if anything surely store would remove it due to Covid19

The larger stores have gaming sections with PCs and consoles set up. This is a PS4 demo unit from one of those stores. The box at the TV end had a VR headset in it, while the other box housed a PS4 Pro. Pretty sure it isn't big enough (width) for a PS5 without choking airflow. Looks to me like the unit is in the process of being removed.

I've used on it (IIRC) the store on Gallagher Retail Park at Wednesbury. Seems to be plenty of others on that Twitter feed who are saying the same.

So - I'm sure many other's from this thread tuned in to Microsoft's show last night.
Quite enjoyed it, most things looked good and I think Fable looked fantastic, I'm sure it will do when it's released in a year or two.
Otherwise......bring on the PS5 pre-orders.
If I was 99% sure that I was going to be taking the PS5 route this generation, I'd say last night tipped it to 100% - the show just didn't say "You gotta buy our new console".

Did an anything from the PS presentation say "You gotta buy our new console" to you?

(no trolling, genuine question)

I'm pretty underwhelmed by both systems' first party launch content, apart from the "beefed up gears". At the moment I'm wondering which system the 3rd party content will run better on, ala Cyberpunk etc.

I actually think the best way to play will be Game Pass via xCloud when they enable the 4K option during the generation. You can save a nice clump on buying the hardware if your internet is decent enough. But then again, MS are going to make it easier to own XSX with a monthly payment plan.

When I watched Ratchet & Clank - a really early build of said, and saw how that utilised the new SSD I was so very impressed.
This showed me what the next generation of hardware is going to be capable of. If that becomes the only technology that makes a major difference to gaming this generation - then I want to be using it.
Whereas I know third parties are unlikely to make full use of it, Sony Studios I'm sure will.

The two specifications of the consoles are so close that when it comes to 3rd party content we aren't going to see major differences. We certainly aren't going to see things like 30fps on one and 60fps on the other.
I'm sure MS will have their additional 15% of power utilised, but unless I have the two consoles side-by-side am I going to notice?

I don't know what I expected from MS last night. Maybe I was just hoping for a handful of 1st party games that would make me want to own their next generation console. I saw Fable, a series I am a bit jealous of, but that was about it.

Did anyone see the latest Moore's Law Is Dead video? I won't link it because it's just speculation based on his sources, but he's been told a God Of War sequel will be revealed in the next month or so (although not scheduled for release until next year). More interestingly, he says there's also another unnamed launch title that will revive a long-standing PS series (or words to that effect), and that Cerny himself is involved in the project. Bucket of salt and all that.

I'm starting to wonder if both PS5 and Xbox have a potential extra launch title hidden. As it stands, PS5 launches with Spider Man and a bunch of third party times exclusives Sony bought up. And Xbox launches with Halo, The Medium, and a CrossfireX (which Microsoft bought exclusive rights for). Those might actually be the worst console launch line-ups in history.

My OG PS4 is showing its age after 7 years of use so I am ready to upgrade the hardware whatever launches with it. If they handle BC right then the boost will be worth it to me even if there's nothing I want to get at launch.

New COD will also be a launch title for sure, probably a few others too for both

AC Valhalla will be there on both as well. Cyberpunk 2077 is another. Two potentially great games right there. I think there will be more than enough to be getting on with.

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be backwards compatible on PlayStation 5. The PlayStation 4 version “will work on PS5 on launch day,” the studio said. ... A later upgrade to Cyberpunk 2077, taking full advantage of the next-gen hardware, will be available for free.

With that they're bound to release a PS5 only version for those who never had or don't own a PS4. Whether that's at launch or not, I don't know.

Actually tempted to get cyberpunk on the ps5 when it has the ps5 patch. And later on upgrade my pc in a few years to try it out in max settings when all the dlc/expansions are out for it. Didnt complete witcher 3 till last year when all the expansions were out.

Yeah, that's my kind of thinking with most games this gen. I'll buy the base game on PS5 (maybe even on disc so I can sell on) and then pick up the same game again on PC when it's the "GotY edition". I've done that mostly this time around with PS4 but I was totally digital so I have a lot of the same games on PS4 and PC, which was a waste of dosh when you look back at it.

Doubt I'll be upgrading my PC, just buy a new one around mid-gen 2023 time.

Wonder if Sony just target the 4k 30 with this then in a year's time bring out a Pro with gpu numbers similar / above those on the series X and hit 4k 60.
