Windows keeps resetting my 144Hz monitor to 59Hz

Any ideas why windows keeps resetting my refresh rate? I change it to 144hz go back to the game and it sets its to 59hz. If I turn on and off my monitor it starts at 144hz then goes back to 59hz.....

I have vega 56 and ViewSponic XG2402

I had this problem for months ...turned out that the display port cable that came with the monitor was gash. £12.99 and 1 new cable later my problem was fixed.

I just reinstalled the amd drivers seems to working fine at the moment, were you getting issues with the cable from when you first got it? As I have not had this issue before.

Are you using display port or hdmi?

Also does the games give the option to select 144 or only in Windows or how does it change? Game reports 144 but screen shows 59 etc etc.

I am using a display port in the windows display settings (advance display settings) is where it changes the refresh rate.
