Got this but it's only got the watercooling block on and I want to put it into a normal PC.

I know Accelero IV should fit but these are extremely hard to get nowadays.

Any of you guys know if maybe cooler/heatsinks from other models (like some of the 290s?) would fit?
Maybe could pick one of those up for cheap.

Alternatively, did anyone try to mod an old AIO to fit a GPU maybe ? :). That could be cheaper but I assume it would have to be one where the pump is not attached to the block.

Pretty sure that's going to be a custom PCB, so other coolers from other 290(X) won't fit.

Lots of people ran AIO coolers, some even have fasteners that line up perfectly I believe. Cooling the vrms and to a lesser extent the vram is somthing you have to think about though. Overclock.net had a big thread on it, I believe it was titled the red mod

Good luck

Could look for a dead version of the same card on eBay and strip it for parts.

The

390x is about 20% faster than the rx470 and he nose his gpu where buying second hand comes with potential pitfalls.

Radeon RX 470 4GB-vs-AMD Radeon R9 390X

Note 8gb 470 is on average 10% slower than the 390x
Yea but the 470/480 has a low stock clock, and have much more overclocking headroom than the 390x (I am saying this as a 290x owner).

£45 is A LOT no be invested on cooling a dated card. It's too bad that the Gelid Icy Vision Rev 2 is discontinued...it cost only £29.99 and I had it on my 290x and it was great.

Actually sorted an accelero iv for £25 :). Will see how it goes. Also I already had the 390x so it's not like I could've picked something else.

I don't think 470 was coming anywhere close a the 390x was between 570-580 perf last time I've looked.

Anyway just need to sort out some memory for spare build and will put it together next week, curious to what I can pull off on this low budget!

Good to hear that you managed to get a cooler at that cost  But do check make sure you have heatsink on the VRM of the card, as that can easily reach 120C+ if not properly cooled (I think most manufacturer's custom coolers would have the VRM of the 290x/390x at around 98C~110C on average).

I think I should spend sometime set my previous PC the i5 2500K rig back up with my old 290x (which still got the Corsair HG10 A1 along with the Corsair H105 AIO cooler mounted on it) for some casual lazy gaming in bed :p
