Is the GTR just not that fast when stock?

I currently drive an A45 AMG (Stage 1 remap), which I have been thinking of changing to something faster. I have timed the car running 3.4s 0 - 60 and 8.2s 0 - 100 on a mates Vbox (on a private road of course). Despite the numbers above, the car just does not feel that fast.

Fast forward to today, I went to view a lovely facelift GTR (570bhp), car was fab and I am very close to doing a deal but I am concerned about the speed aspect. It just did not feel that fast compared to my A45, I expected it to blow me away but it did not. Now I am planning on jumping to Litchfield Stage 4.25 straight away (660bhp) but I am concerned that won't drastically improve low down acceleration IE: 0-100mph. Any thoughts on this? The GTR will be my daily, and I just expected it to be mind bendingly fast, I don't want to go OTT with mods, thus stopping at stage 4.25.

Any GTR owners on here with some input? Will Stage 4 make a big difference?

i can't help but think that the GTR is quite a heavy lump, even more so than the not exactly light A class.
My assumption is that neither is going to feel that quick unless you're breaking the speed limit by a fairly nuts amount.
Sorry, but I think you're placing too much emphasis on top trumps stats, and not enough on "feel". Maybe something more raw like an Elise might wake up your senses somewhat more.

Without launching it the 0-60 times (stock) are fairly average for a high performance car and you don't want to be launching it regularly.

It seems a bit Marmite in terms of how visceral the experience is for people - personally I love the odd conflict between savagery and refinement it has going on but other people find it a bit numbing.

There are a lot better cars if you want a direct driver involvement feel.

EDIT: In terms of enjoyment in a road legal environment I find my pickup just as satisfying despite being slower - you really have to nail it to get a 0-60 in 8s but the way the power kicks in low down due to the 550nm torque just puts a smile on my face.

Sounds like you need a slower more involving car, not a faster one.

Most modern cars do not "feel" fast because they are so technically competent. Something like a TVR Tuscan S for example will feel much more hectic due to its simpler chassis and complete lack of driver aids, not to mention the noise and feel of the thing, but by the numbers it will be slower than your A45.

Older cars do indeed feel faster. My friends old Cosworth was only 200-something BHP but felt savage. An MX5 with decent power again will feel stupidly quick due to it's weight. Big cars hide their speed much better.

Stage 2 BBR is 302bhp and it weights 1,110kg giving a 272bhp/ton

Stage 1 A45 is 400bhp and it weights 1,555kg giving a 258bhp/ton

That obviously doesn't tell the full story, the MX5 would be bonkers.

I think @Frozennova had one.

If you want to go really fast up to non insane speeds you really need to get an electric car, a Tesla model 3 performance would feel way faster 0-80 and can be used any time without worrying about wearing out clutches or whatever.

When you get bored of a 3.4s to 60 A45 AMG in a matter of a few months, the answer is not a 2.9s to 60 GTR, it's realising that warp speed straight line acceleration is not what makes a car entertaining long term.

Yup...

That's exactly why I went for a 230bhp Fiesta ST. It's an absolute hoot on country roads even sticking to the limits.

I find my £600 150HP (if im lucky) car far more fun to drive than the other one which can do 0 - 60 in about 5 seconds if you launch it.
