Hi all,

I’m in the process of changing jobs meaning my current company car is going back.

The new job is a 25 mile round trip, mostly motorway/country lanes so relatively easy.

We have a family car that my wife uses so I’m in the market for something relatively exciting but for the budget not expecting much. The requirements I see needing are the following:

- Budget of £8k
- 5 seats although can be 3 door.
- No preference on diesel/petrol.
- I do like my mod cons in cars. A good sound system would be desirable.
- ‘Quick’ - my last cars have been slow family wagons. It would nice to have something that is fun to bash around.

Any ideas? No idea what to look for at the moment.

I’m going to be WFH for the foreseeable so going to manage with one car until that changes, which it will. It would be nice to know what car I want before then.

Many thanks,

Golf. Decent gadgets as default, comfortable 5 seater, good engines and both autos and manuals are good.

Budget wise you may have to aim for a higher mileage, but you should still be able to find a decent conditions, low owner motorway muncher.

Stretch a bit more and find a GT86 if you want to have some fun. Don't worry about high mileage on those, most pre-2014 cars got a free engine rebuild last year by Toyota/Subaru anyway :D

BMW 330I or a 335I, the 330I would be the cheaper to run out of the two.
Madza 3 MPS
You can get some decent fresh JDM cars at that price point. Like a Honda accord Euro R or a Subaru legacy twin scroll turbo or a Forester STI
