Ive been looking to buy a RTX 2070 Super internationally from California for a good price of around £440 however does anyone now what the percentage for import duty is on graphics cards?

Anything under £135
No charge
Gifts worth £135-£630
2.5%, but rates are lower for some goods - call the helpline
Gifts above £630 and other goods above £135
The rate depends on the type of goods and where they came from.
And I think u will have to pay VAT.

U can try and gamble with some on you know in usa.

He buys the item then sends it to u.
If u lucky it will go unnoticed.

I bought card from China for 300£ and got lucky.

OCUK has a 2070Super for £450. You'd be mad to take the chance, it could easily end up costing you £600.

Customs charges and clearance fees will be at least £100 so it's not worth it.

I have noticed that computer hardware is priced more or less the same dollars for pounds, this makes importing a go. Gone are the early days when everything was so much cheaper over there.

Last I looked even though pc stuff is cheaper in usa
Import and delivery costs made it non viable
Last I looked one of the largest USA companies has a UK website
Prices look great until you get to check out and see its still shipped from the USA
:(:(

Unless it's a ludicrously good price surely the hassle just isn't worth it? Extra taxes, potential for it to be held by customs etc etc.

Well I'm hoping we get a free trade deal with the US that includes electronics as that should bring down pricing in this country.

Don’t forget US retailer prices are excluding taxes. The way each state has different tax rates, they don’t add it on til later in checkout.

A lot of people don’t seem to be aware of this and think the US is so much cheaper when it really isn’t lol

sparx is right tax is added at checkout in usa. so usa is only maybe 5-10% cheaper at best once tax is taken into account.

Wont you get hit by the triple whammy: customs charge 5% & 20% VAT & handling fee.

You might get lucky but buying from usa is a big risk.

I got hit by china to uk vat, customs and handling. So paid £180 for a few water cooling parts and it ended up costing me £245 in which I could have stuck with ek or watercool for the same price :(

On the other side of this I got a buddy in China to ship me a full water cooling setup, all bykski and it was less than £100. I had no import charges at all attached. I just received a big box of goodies with no charges.

uk government let shipping company’s charge fixed fee for finding tax eligible parcels.

Smart.

My girlfriend bought something craft related water based paint or some crap. It was 16£ just over 15£ tax free.

she got charged 1£ in taxes and 10£ handling fee.

Company on amazon failed to disclose item location.

small compline to amazon resulted in extra charges cancelled.

Its easy to miss item location part.
