Im thinking of an upgrade and fancied trying a Ryzen

I am a bit confused on the B550 and X570 where they seem to have 1 or 2 display outputs which I assumed meant you needed to use a processor with the G designation, but particularly the B550 seems to be incompatible with these CPUs

Are these ports actually a motherboard chipset display as opposed to a processor based one?

Eg the Asrock phantom gaming 4 lists the 3100, 3300x, 3500, 3500x etc but excludes the 3200g and 3400g
 
The 3200g and 3400g are not Zen 2... I know it's confusing.

The true Zen 2 parts are a 4000 code name e.g. 4750g which will work in B550.

The ports on the boards are for the processor graphics when used with say a 4000 series APU when launched retail later this month.

Ah right so I do (would) still need a G chip, to use onboard graphics. Just thought its always a handy thing to have available but if I need a G chip I will just ignore that for now

Thanks that helps as I was kinda planning to use a second card to run the extra displays as they only run low stuff line movies etc
(I run 4 screens)
 
The gaming 4 b550 only has one display wher3 the x570 has 2

I checked the cpu support list for the x570 and 3200g and 3400g cpu are supported( may need a bios update), but there is no mention of this on the b550 list.

The B550 board don't support 3000G CPUs.

Would need either X570 B450 X470 if you wanted to run 3000G APU.

It is strange considering the B550 is more of a budget board than X570 and the sort of board which would make more sense pairing with an APU.

I can only guess the reason is bios sizes as they might struggle to fit 3 generations of CPU on the same bios as the 3000G are zen + parts which are also not supported on B550.

Not sure how this will effect X570 going forward as those support 2000 series CPU and 3000 APU but it might be the case that you lose zen+ series support if you flash for Zen3 and maybe AMD just didn't want the hassle this time around on B550.

Most motherboards support 2 gpus, you put them in the two pci-e slots. You would have to use the same type, Nvidia or AMD so you don't need a motherboard that already has a graphics output on it to do it, if that's what you're thinking??
