Hey guys,

Been out of the loop with computers and building for a while now. I've just bought parts to upgrade my current PC:
  • AMD FX6300
  • 8GB RAM
  • Gigabyte GA78MLT
  • 250GB SSD
  • PowerColour R9 270 OC
  • Antec vp450p 450w power supply
to my new PC:
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • 16GB RAM
  • B550M PRO4 AsRock
  • Adata xpg sx8200 pro 1TB
  • PowerColour R9 270 OC
  • Antec vp450p 450w power supply
Yes I know I haven't upgraded my card - I will buy one next month (any recommendations would be great! Budget is £150).

Questions I had:

1) Is my PSU powerful enough? Including if I upgrade my GPU in future.
2) I want to move everything to my new SSD; some googling shows cloning? How does this work? Is it easy to do? What happens with drivers such as motherboard?

Lastly, what do you do with your old parts? Are mine worth anything? I'm keeping my SSD as storage but I don't want to keep things just for the sake of it - once I upgrade is it a case of throwing it in the trash?

Thanks

How old is you psu ? Get a new one if it's the same age as the rest of your pc.

You really should do a fresh install of windows cloning can take old drivers, etc and cause conflicts.

Keep your old system as a test machine.

Around 6 years old now I believe.

For windows, I had 8.1 and upgraded for free: What is the best way to install it again? Google brings up nothing helpful!

You will need a better PSU as it will most likely struggle. Also when changing any major components such as the cpu or motherboard a fresh installation of windows is recommended. You can easily transfer data across but just install windows fresh
