NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

You cant though can you if you want ultra 1440p or acceptable 4k? If a mid range card could just about do it it would be unicorn standard.

Well, the alternative at roughly the same price (if the "leaks" are correct), is the console. So you would be getting the same performance/$, but with the advantages of PC games.

I feel that with the right climate - incredible games and a good economical situation, they would have pulled it of. Neither of those are on their side. Same for AMD and nVIDIA (besides Cyberpunk is there any other game expected to push the limit?).

Interesting times. :)

You can always buy the lower/mid range parts.

Well I want the card to be a decent upgrade from my current 1080 it also has to drive two monitors at 1440p at 144hz in the latest games and I want it to be at least as future proof as the 1080. There's not much point in me having this monitor if I can just about get 60fps and have to turn down and tweak loads of settings.

My main Problem is i find there new no games these days that are good enough to make me want to spend lots on a high end GPU to run therm..

The new MS Flight sim 2020 or Cyberpunk 2077 may change that but guess i have to wait and see

Its true there isn't many PC games that truly push the PC to its limits. I mean their are but they don't look much better than they do on console, frame rates seem to be the main place where PC excels now so what is the point. MS Flight Sim is definitely one of the few games I'm looking forward to though.

The ps5 won't be having it all its way by the looks of this story.

That will put an extra 0 on nvidia and xbox products:D

I mean that is one of the dumbest rumours I've heard. You mean what a game in development with over a year to be released is performing poorly, how could that be, it should be performing perfectly throughout its development surely, they don't perform optimisation at the end of the dev cycle or anything.

I bought a 2080ti at the start of the lock down to replace my GTX 1080 and just about all i played was TMU which my 1080 could run just fine :o:o:D

I could have probably gotten along just fine with my old 1080Ti however the 2080Ti has been an excellent card and has pushed 4k 60hz and 1440p high refresh to an extent where the 1080Ti just couldn’t manage it comfortably.

Expensive, but has been a good card. Haven’t really wanted for any more power as of yet. I am definitely looking forward to next gen though.

Personally though and 'extra £200' is a lot and would be looking into it deeper to find out why rather than that. I can take £50 or so unless your slightly exaggerating.

The 5700xt I bought was £299 with a gamed bundle but I ended up returning it.

Personally for me it was not a nice experience, I would have rather a £550 2070s any day but decided to wait it out for these new cards, plus I want hdmi 2.1.

I agree.

The only games wanting me to upgrade are Cyberpunk and to VR with the HP Reverb (dual 4k screens) for stuff like Skyrim with mods. Is that worth £1500?

Put simply, no.

I think of the 3080ti or 3090 or whatever they call it as the icing on the cake for someone has their BEST display and their BEST sound... otherwise I think its a fools errand to buy such an expensive GPU if you have mid range sound/display.

then again.. I'm sitting here with a 77inch LG CX OLED and a 5.1.2 Arendal 1723 sound system and a valve index.. so maybe I'm talking myself into buying one.. lol.

My main problem was i thought i was going to be off work and at home playing games for the lock down but no my work place had me doing 40 hours per week :(

De gustibus. But even if you don't like the new ones, how about older ones at higher res/framerates/effects? First thing I do when I get mine will be to play through The Surge again but at 8K. :)

Same didn’t change anything for me either :(. I guess with the amount of people losing jobs etc, it’s more of a good thing.

Blast, forgot about that, its just a reword then and still their to blame!

I think you underestimate the amount of people out there who have quite a bit of disposable income, not everyone is poor (I'm not rich by any means, but I can spend quite a bit on my hobby). nV and AMD need to cater for all, from £100 to £2.5/3k. People generally need to understand this, just makes good business sense.
I don't believe for one second that, from a mid-range that used to cost £150 (GTX 460 was an "epic" mid-range card back in the day), that the mainstream is now able and willing to cough up £400-£600 for nV's mid-range offering.

I don't believe that for a second.

People want a good mid-range card from £200 - £250, and I don't believe they are going to get it.

And that is why many, many people are talking about ditching PC gaming.
