Hi Guys,

I am looking at connecting my Laptop to my external monitor for gaming purposes. My laptop (MSI GT73VR Titan) Thunderbolt port but my monitor (BenQ XL2411T) does not and only has DisplayPort and DVI.

I will be either looking to use the laptop screen as a second monitor or disable it whilst using the external, depends on the difficultly of the setup.

What are the options ?
Anyone have any experience in this and could help me out ?

Thanks,
Tom

How about a dock/port replicator?
Like a Dell WD15 or similar ?

Didn't even know about these, will definitely have a look more into it. This is all new to me so want to make sure I make the right move. Thanks guys.

these don't use your laptop's graphics, so should be avoided for gaming. deffo use a thunderbolt/mini displayport to DP adapter.
