Mouse Dilemma - Recommendations Sought

Hi All,

I've reached analysis paralysis with my next mouse purchase so looking for some assistance from the collective expertise here!

My requirements are - a large mouse, preferably with some support for the ring & little fingers although this is hard to come by so would forego this for the right mouse. Definitely needs to be large though (my hands are 21cm x 11cm) and I palm grip. For context I am replacing a Func MS3 Rev 2 which has served me well for many years. Unfortunately the right click is finally on its way out.

I don't need masses of buttons although a few extra wouldn't go amiss.

Not bothered about wireless - happy with wired and I also prefer a weighty mouse.

Gaming preferences are RPG, MMO, Some survival types but not an FPS/shooter player.

So far I have looked at all the big brands and then I just hit walls of "left click stopped working" (Logitec), "the software is crap" (Corsair), "for love of god don't buy anything from this company" (Razer), "buy this model" (always recommending models that aren't made anymore).

So in this day and age of expensive rodents am I aiming too high in wanting something that lasts multiple years or is it the done thing now to spend north of £70-£80 per year on fragile paperweights?

Of all the options I've looked at so far the Roccat Aimo Remastered seems to be a reasonable option although there are reports of the mouse wheel dying quite early on. I've also pondered the Logitec G604 but there are a lot of reports of left click issues. The one that I would have jumped for is a Roccat Nyth but they don't make it any longer.

Would be interested to hear your recommendations or similar issues with mouse selections and what you ended up with.

Cheers

Rich.

It is indeed... so I got some Sugru™ and just moulded up a support for two of my mice. Works really well!
One tip for a smooth finish is to use a wet finger and gently stroke the surface a few times to remove any roughness.

I use a Coolermaster Storm Inferno and a Logitech G700S. The CM one is probably better for palm grip, but for gaming I prefer the features of the G700.
Both have plenty of buttons, and the clicks are all perfectly fine. Software has always been flawless, too.

That's a great tip, thanks very much. That opens up the choice of mice nicely!

Sadly it seems neither of these mice are available any more. I will check out Coolermaster though as for some reason I didn't even consider their mice when doing my research (stupid really as I have one of their mechanical keyboards and really like it )

Thanks for the info, appreciated.

Have a look at the Mionix Naos (should still be available, although probably not many left) or the Dream Machines DM2 Supreme. Shape is probably the most important thing with mice nowadays because the sensors have become so good.

Looking at other big mice, the Microsoft Intellimouse Pro is a firm favourite which has been tried and tested for years. Razer have actually got significantly better with QC in the past year and the Basilisk range may suit you.

Just to throw a curve-ball because you don't play FPS, the Logitech MX Master 1, 2 or 3 are very comfy mice (I use one at work) and don't have crappy switches like those found in the G Pro Wireless. What might put you off is the weight which may be too heavy for prolonged gaming sessions.

Also, the Logitech G502 is a popular mouse with a lot of people. It's been on offer a few times recently too.

Thanks very much for this, interesting to hear that Razer's QC has improved. Is that through personal experience?

I have looked at the MX Master range frequently but are they really any good for gaming, albeit not fast paced stuff?

Thanks again for the tips, appreciated.

Okay as a big handed gent I recently made the switch from a steelseries Rival 600 to the logitech g903.... both are excellent mice!

The g903 doesn't feel as well-built but edges out in terms of comfort and usability for me!

An excellent mouse, although the wireless battery life isn't fantastic. I have an Anywhere 2S and the charge lasts for weeks, whereas I the G502 requires weekly charging.

I've been using a SteelSeries Sensei for years now (had an original Sensei for years, replaced with a Sensei 310). The Rival's are slightly larger and shaped more for a palm grip. Perhaps it's worth trying out a Rival?

The Rival 500 is quite a chunky mouse with about 5 buttons around the thumb. Two of these can be locked though so they act like a little "rest" which you may find useful.

Thanks all for the help and suggestions. Going to look through a few more options on the back of your information.

If anyone else dips into this thread though I'd still be interested in hearing your recommendations etc.

Thanks all :)
