This has been exactly my sentiments for a while now (including not giving a crap about Spiderman). The only game I'm looking forward to right now, is Cyberpunk and Tony Hawk's pro skater remake. My enthusiasm for the SX has waned a little too, because of the Halo delay (even though I totally understand the reason for doing it) and the policy to keep supporting old gen way into the future (which will hold games back)

If any of the platform holders announce any sort of "next gen version or timed exclusive for Cyberpunk", it will sway my purchase immediately.

I'm not sure the cross-gen Xbox thing is really going to mean much in practice. It's 1 to 2 years from launch. Halo, Psychonauts 2 and probably Flight Sim will be cross-gen. Nobody seems to be expecting Avowed, Fable, Forza, etc. within the first year.

Always struck me as a cheap PR opportunity that backfired.

Neither launch looks all that exciting. I would almost rather they wait until they are ready. Both fear the other launching significantly earlier will provide an advantage so you have 2 consoles coming out with bang average games.

Pretty much my opinion. I've seen nothing that makes me want to upgrade straight away. I'll save my money and get a new console next year.

I don't follow the logic in this, it's not like they will get a price reduction within the first couple of years?

EDIT: Although I suppose there is some good from waiting. You might get new SKUs with extra SSD space or limited edition cases, etc.

It's not about a price reduction. Apart from a couple of exclusives most games will be cross-gen for a year or 2. I'd rather wait until it's actually worth getting a new console.

To be honest, the PS5 is no different. Main launch titles are Ratchet & Clank and Spiderman. Not saying they are bad games but nothing ground breaking either.

I didn't think the first of those games for children was being released on launch? :p

I'm waiting on the price announcement and weighing up whether to pre-order a Series X at launch or not. With all the backwards compatibility stuff, I'm leaning towards the pre-order though. For the launch of new colours, different storage capacities, etc., down the line, I'm not exactly fussed.

When you see things like that, it does make you think again about whether those extra Tflops in the Xbox really do matter. Or is that DualSense going to make games feel different in a way that the Xbox can't replicate because they are sticking with the same gamepad.
