or would you save the £240 towards newer cpu motherboard ram...

thanks

How does your pc perform , have you got an ssd ?

A solid state hard drive can transform a pc quicker loading times, faster data transfer and feels much snappier.

yes have an ssd..

i was thinking it was going that way .. i will look into some options as happy with the case harddrives etc.. is ryzen amd ..
ok.. am i,m looking at older 2000 series stuff or should i now be looking at the 3000 series motherboards

For £240 You should be looking at older stuff but

Amd 3600, b450 motherboard and 16gb ddr4 3200mhz you could get for £310 approx

Just one option here is to upgrade to a Z390 motherboard with a 9100F ( super cheap CPU ). The 9100F is actually a really good CPU, just happens to be ridiculously cheap, but the motherboard and RAM give you a great foundation for a CPU upgrade in a little while. I bought a 9100F just to test a motherboard but it's still in there because it turned out to be far more powerful than the price suggests.

If going to the trouble of upgrading all 3 of those components, it doesn't really make much sense to go from 4c/4t to 4c/4t in my humble opinion.
