is there a way I can connect PC with DP, mac mini with HDMI into monitor with only DP and be switchable on monitor 2560*1440p @ 144HZ

Possibly could do 2xHDMI into DP as PC has RTX2080ti and not really wanting to get new monitor

No probs!

You can get DisplayPort switches (for selecting the input) - and you can also get HDMI to DisplayPort cables, so it could run like this
PC > DisplayPort Switcher > Monitor
Mac Mini > HDMI to DisplayPort adapter > DisplayPort Switcher > Monitor

You'd be looking at around £30 for that setup

Just double checked and a lot of them are uni-directional (and most are from a DisplayPort output from the graphics card to HDMI for the display output/monitor end) - so unfortunately seems like the best option is a new monitor :(

What year of Mac Mini is it you have?

Mac mini is 2018 I think- wonder if it has thunderbolt usb c to DisplayPort as that might work as I have found a DP switcher box I used to use previously

You can actually get USB Type C to DisplayPort (USB C works with Thunderbolt) - but it puts out 4K @ 60Hz, so not sure if that would work for you?

Just to add to this, it's not the cables that are directional. DisplayPort as a protocol carries all the signals needed to provide HDMI. So you can get a cable that passively converts DP to HDMI.

Whereas HDMI isn't carrying all the signals to communicate using the DisplayPort protocol - so you can't use a cable to convert that way.

You can get active boxes I guess but they never seem 100%. Best to look into the USB C option, Apple seem to favour that now.
