Hi all

I was just browsing the OCUK forum and saw the new product post regarding the new gaming glasses with Amber lenses...

I don't need them but would love to know the benefits of these, I've heard it's to do with some blue light?

What is the light and are the glasses better suited to certain individuals?

Cheers

Blue light bad mmmkay. I'm a bit of a skeptic, I think you'd get the same effect from just using night mode/f.lux.

If I got some, they would make me feel like this:

Being of Gamerz styles, they look far cooler than all the other blue-light glasses.
That's pretty much it, really.

Supposedly some people suffer headaches, eye strain and disruption of their circadian rhythms* from the exposure to the blue light emitted by electronic screens, which these glasses help to reduce. Our work supply them, at a discount, but they're the really budget styles and you look a right nob in them.

*I hear that 'scientists have proven', and 'studies have shown', that blue light also causes autism, racism, sociopathy, depressions, recessions, Brexits, lefty liberal leanings, and whatever other ills you would care to blame on someone else.

Yeah I've always been skeptical since first seeing them so thought I'd ask on here, seems like a lot of money for something like that

I reckon you could pull that look off pretty well

Thanks for the info bud, have you ever used the ones from your work? If so what's your thoughts?

I thought it could be something medically needed for certain people but have never looked into it that much

I have not, as I'm not a racist autistic Guardian reader... But a few colleagues have, with mixed-to-favourable opinions resulting.
Basically, if you do experience any symptoms, either the real ones or the others I mentioned, consider giving some a try to see if they help - Start with the cheaper ones and then decide if you wanna drop £70+ on a pair of shades.

It's only 30 seconds on the Googlemabob...

Any decent monitor in 2020 has blue light filters from 0-5 etc, Flicker free backlights and refreshrates from 60-280hz. Now if you got eye issues its the hz is too low and you got a bad monitor thats all case closed.

But we live in a world of cheap chinese made capitalism so now you find people looking another angle to extract money from a sector. But gaming glasses are the low of the low i mean cmon what a scam lol! I really hate greed tbh and thats all it is greed for more $$$ and someone telling you that you need this. As above you dont £268 and £366 grets you either VG259QM or VG279QM if the eyes still hurt well sorry you are unhelpable.

They're just yellow tinted glasses, people use them for cycling. When cycling, I find they reduce eyestrain from glare and make picking out details easier and almost clearer.

I never learned to read in the first place, so I'm definitely not one.
I do still know the difference between Your and You're, though...

Many workplaces get volume deals on IT kit suppliers, so end up with whatever cheap mass-produced junk HP/Dell have to hand. Probably why so many of our lot wanted them.
