AMD "Ryzen is Smoother" Misconception Benchmark & Explanation (Ryzen vs. Intel for Gaming)

Anyone want to summarise what the monotonously verbose tech jeebus is on about? I can't sit through 30 minutes of waffle for what a slide will basically tell me...

I'm guessing it's Intel are still faster in games, which isn't in dispute? How many people are using a 2080ti at 1080p to take advantage of these frame rates your monitor can't display?

He got angry because the Internet said Ryzen was smoother for gaming, so he setout to put the Internet to rights to say this is not true, and of course his slides prove him right....

He is right, this is a throwback from the Zen 1 era and isn't true anymore. But this is Steve Burke and he never misses an oprtuninity to show how big his brain is and how wrong the Internet is.

Lol, strikes me as the kind of dork who would buy a product and leave it in the box just to say he owns one and declare it sucks.

Tbh it's all meaningless if both CPU's are capable of pushing well over 100fps with the right GPU. I'm not really sure how anyone can say one CPU is smoother than another when both able to run at the monitor's refresh rate. If there's any noticeable difference then I'd think one system is faulty.

No you're obviously doing it all wrong, you need to hold your hand against the screen then you can feel the difference.

I feel the same way, especially with ultra-wide and 4k resolutions becoming more common, you can get away with a pretty basic CPU paired with a good graphics card and I doubt many people would even notice a difference, I think all this fuss over a few frames here and there is silly really, people tell me how important 7nm is, apparently it does something very important?, If my temps are 'normal' and my performance is good I don't care if my chip is 65nm, I'm sure it';s important in the industry but not for me.

Exactly, it's an obsession chasing frames above what the monitor can output. I've limited my fps cap in nvidia control panel to 143fps, as my CPU can handle whatever frames are thrown at it, it's my GPU that can't!

Pubg at 1080p and 1080p UW was running over 200fps in places, big deal, it's a detriment at that point as my monitor is 144hz.

Now I play at native 3440x1440 and it's my GPU that can't output 144fps... but I can compile code, stream and game art the same time and frequently do now, so core count is important, being individually 10% or whatever than an 8 core Intel makes no odds to me. If I was all about gaming then I'd be looking at 6 core offerings from Intel or AMD and whilst having the funds to get either I still want some modicum of value, I'm not loaded to the point I can throw money away. Even if I was I wasn't brought up to be wasteful... other than my temp 2070 super purchase, which is out of character, however there's no easy mutt 1070ti could do 1440p UW lol.

No. You're pushing your own luck by Gaslighting like that mate ^^^
:D I was just kidding, I'm sure it was for some other forum infraction. Though I note you're still quick to give people those internet labels that don't apply.

You probably still think I'm "trolling" you for pointing out that your 3600 was not faster than my 9700k in photo related tasks, contrary to your bold claim to everyone that it was.

Now I'm "Gaslighting"... hmm:
"manipulate (someone) by psychological means into doubting their own sanity."

I know you're backing up your 'Ryzen Is The Greatest' buddy but you might want to rethink that one.

None for a 9900k but I knew that going in having done research before buying.

I could have gone the amd upgradable route but I wanted performance then, not in the future. Had I gone through the amd route, I’d still be waiting for that performance to catch up for my primary use case which is sim racing in VR. Core counts do nothing for me there.

As usual, build for your own use case not some arbitrary metric.

As @Journey stated, 100% correct.

For my work I have to cover 3 main usages and then I like to game from time to time. So for:

Video - 3900X
Photo Editing - 9700K
Music/Audio - 9700K
Gaming - 9700K

That is the currently state of play for me. Hopefully Ryzen 4000 will put a cat amongst the pigeons. As to "smoothness", as Steve noted that anybody is going to be hard pushed to actually feel the difference but if you use quantitative methods then Intel will be shown to be overall "smoother".

This again.... this will be the third time in a year that you have tried to troll me into that argument. Drop it, before I start spamming the report button for your trolling.

I miss the days of proper box art....

But it shows you how desperate they are,if they are branding CPU boxes with a film tie in now. This is something more common to GPUs,and even that is very rare now. I suppose all the single core performance isn't the instabuy we are being lead to believe!! But then Intel does not believe in benchmarks anymore, maybe Steve needs to get that message!!

:p

Yeah, Intel are trying literally everything and anything right now.

I know it really is a terrible thing just solely to be pointed out to have made a mistake. If it makes you feel better go ahead and press that button. You might want to press it on @Aretak who showed you to be just "making up stuff" in this post/thread:
