Hey all,

Looking to help someone with building a PC for streaming that OCUK would then build for us.

It's for streaming but it's NOT for game streaming and never will be, it's literally for streaming and nothing else, no games or otherwise.

It's literally OBS, with a couple of overlay images and a few webcams pulled into Zoom, then streamed onto YouTube.

I put together the below but I'm hoping to come in as cheap as possible because it's for someone who's only going to use it for a stream or 2 a week. So it needs to work without issues, but the cheaper the better.

I'm just not sure where is best to downgrade from the below, so anything you can do to help please let me know.

Cheers!

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,059.99 (includes shipping: £11.10)

You don't need a 3700x and I suspect a 1650 super is better than the RX570. The bequiet is there as the psu as it's probably quieter and it's in stock.

Case is the first one I found it's got a window though which may or may not be a problem.

with a £10 windows key from the bay would be my starting point

For non-gaming and non-game streaming is the GPU needed at all?

This isn’t a whole new 2nd system your friend is running, to run alongside his gaming rig, just to stream right...?

This will be the only system and it's used just to stream only.

It's a company that will be buying it just for this person to host a couple of podcast style videos on YouTube a couple of times a week.

OBS and Zoom is about it really, plus a couple of browser tabs. Around 3-4 webcams pulled from Zoom with image overlays (maybe some small video stuff) - but 100% no gaming

In that case I'd just build a basic system around a 3400G, 16GB RAM, small'ish SSD etc...

Or ideally one of the new Mini NUC style desktops using the new Ryzen 4000 APUs - like the Asus PN50 or similar.

Edit: Something like this be ample imo...

What about a GPU? Going to put together something in a basket now.

Just edited my post ^^

What do you need a dGPU for if not gaming? The 3400G has onboard graphics.

Thanks mate - so something like this should work fine with OBS/Zoom and some simple images in the background, maybe the odd video playing on stream?

Is there anything you'd consider a good upgrade without going massively up in price from what you specced?

Only reason I'm being so cautious is it's my job to get the info, but I'm not paying, and the person who it's being sent to is tech clueless (even less than me!) so it needs to work out of the box as the person we're sending it to won't be able to change anything.

One thing I just thought of is multiple screens - I'll likely get him 2 HDMI 24" screens (cheap ones) - will they work with this, or would a GPU be needed? What about if we wanted 3 screens?

Ha! Possibly.

Right now he's trying on a MacBook Air and it gets to 30% CPU useage as soon as it starts streaming, and gets VERY HOT, plus the picture comes through really choppy.

But would prefer to get something new.

Any idea on what CPU is in the Mac Air ?

Also, their ram amount and usage ? Just did 8GB there but board only has 2 ram slots as cheap but UK RMA for quick turn around .
£20 CPU cooler could be added. Better noise proof case etc
HDD might not be needed, but was think 1TB SSD was overkill ?
