Hi All,

Looking to buy a 2TB SSD for my games library.

Been looking at the Crucial BX500 2TB which can be had for £155, i know its not the best but will it do for games?
Are there any you would recommend?

Thanks

Just about any SSD is good for games. Games are generally not that dependent on the drive speed. Well, not as the rest of the system. So yes, it would be great!

I would go for a WD Blue or Crucial MX500 as they feature DRAM.

BX500 is at the bottom of the SSD barrel.

Reliability over speed in your circumstances imo.

As has been said above you probably wouldn't even notice a speed difference between the various brands!

I've had the Crucial BX500 2TB for my 2nd drive to store games for over a year. No problems with it so far. I dont notice a speed different between that and my Samsung NVMe 970 Evo Plus when loading games.

Ive had a 2TB Seagate Firecuda hybrid (SSHD) for my Steam library for over a year now, Doesn't feel any slower in games to me, Quite a bit cheaper than a decent 2T SSD! Not sure if OC still sells them, Had a super quick search and couldn't find them?

Any ssd will do for a games library. Even one without a DRAM cache will be fine as it's large sequential reads. You don't one anywhere near as good as you need for your C: drive.

Any SSD is good for games! I have a 2TB Samsung QVO. The QVO is great for long term storage of large stuff like games, and is perfectly fast enough. Right now I am not sure about the price though, I think they are a little overpriced.

How about an NVMe drive?

Its not the fastest but really good bang for buck, and these are the results on an old FX 8350 AM3 system so expect more if you've a more up to date system.

I have this too (2TB Sabrent Rocket) great so far. It is in an 8 year+ old pc (motherboard) so not at its full speed but should be soon enough

See this thread for when I got it - https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/new-sabrant-rocket-nvme-ssd-in-old-motherboard.18887131/

Nice one mate...Also it's great to see what speeds the drive is capable of once I update my system.
No problem :)
I’m holding off upgrading and just seem to buy something else instead be it watch, camera, speakers or night out :D
But yes, should work a lot faster in a modern system instead if one almost a decade old like mine (mb, cpu, ram anyway) I would also need to replace my pci soundcard (Xonar essence st) so thats another £100-200

edit - Wish do 2tb hdd’s for £19 :D
