NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Do we know when the reviewers typically get the new cards to bench? I would nowadays rely mostly on GamersNexus given their level of analysis. I wouldn't want to throw money down before seeing the thorough benchmarks (particular around whether VRAM is now important), so the "benchmarks" release date (as best can be determined) would be more important for me than the actual release date.

Usually launch day or a few days before. So say if the 3090 goes up for preorder and is released 28th september we’d likely see reviews on the day, or a few days before that date. Nvidia specify the nda date so it could really be any time before launch day.

chances are reviewers will have cards on hand for testing in the coming week or two or perhaps already who knows.

Is it me or is that pig ugly?

GN are clearing the decks for doing the reviews soon.

Just a little too much flat black - even as someone who likes an understated design it needs something to set it off.

Yes 100%. The founders Turing cards in my eyes looked fantastic. Extremely stylish and minimalistic. Cooling wise they performed very well. The new ampere cards to me look ugly and cheap with the single fan being seen.

If I am to buy one it won’t be a FE that’s for sure.

I wouldn't hold out for them.

I won't but the point I was making is Ampere on many fronts is shaping up as a very big disappointment.

NVidia lost the plot with Turing and Ampere looks like a lot more of the same and even worse.

They need to go back to producing well balanced cards like they did in the past.

Not the best looking GPU they've released. Previous two gens IMO looked better.
Also I'm a tad confused why only one fan this time. Not been reading much into the next-gen GPU's but I though higher temps to control time with initial 7nm?
Is there not another fan on the other side?

Yeah they don't look at good as the last FE cards.

Depends from ones point of view. If 3070 hits 2080ti performance with double the RT performance for $499 or less then that is not too bad no?

Just tried gta v and turned everything up to max.
The shadows options took the memory required to over 12gb @2560 × 1440.

My 1080 has 8gb so i can't see why only 10gb with the 3080 unless they're steering customers to the 3090.

Hmm, thanks.

Things are getting slightly confusing, and I couldn't give a **** about RTX.

Awaiting benchmarks... :)

This is why I'm not expecting any useful benchmarks tomorrow - they'll focus entirely on RTX and DLSS benches to make it look good. We'll have to wait a while for independent reviews to show the raw grunt.

If anyone is wondering if these new cards will fit inside their case... Watch which brand you buy :p

That's not that long really. My Zotac 1080Ti is 325mm.
