Nvidia Ampere livestream event

I'm not sure whether to buy or wait for benchmarks,

Thoughts lads?

I'm sporting a 1070 rn.
Always wait for benchmarks. You could preorder but you'll have to commit to making a rational decision when benches are released rather than oogling the shiny.

Predictably that was all about RTX.

What we don't know is how fast they are without RTX or how much power they use, he didn't talk about any of that, why not?
Indeed, personally, I'm not very interested in RTX, I wouldn't want to go over 150W... or spend much more than £200! 1660 Super for me then. Not sure this release changes much, yet.

I noticed that and wondered at the time whether he realises that most folks don't care about RTX yet. They are more interested in real world stuff like how much their existing games run better.

Did you notice where it shows RT performance in graphs (post 60) small print at bottom says RT = RT with DLSS. But the 10 series shown on same graph are without DLSS.
Which to me means it is not a true comparison of performance differential.

So only applies to a very small minority of games.

So in other words the only thing we can surmise from this is that they run very hot ( huge heatsinks ). Other than that we know every little.
