NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

TBF,if you already have a decent GPU and it runs your games fine, you don't NEED to upgrade.

The longer you wait between upgrades, the bigger the improvement you will get.

Indeed. But you try talking any sense around here. It has just all gone out of the window.

The only way you will lose your money is selling your GPU. And for what? to buy another one LOL. That's a silly game to be playing. I buy what I can when I can, run it into the ground and then usually give it away. That way I lose what I allowed myself to lose.

3080 will be an overpowered card at 1440p. No doubt. The 2080Ti is already, as I have shown. The 3070 will be the 1440p card. Mostly down to the VRAM, as you can see from my screenshots. I am easily surpassing 8gb just at 1440p with RT on.

Put it this way, none of them are 1080p cards. Those will come later, and I would assume much later.

How much difference in performance do the AIB cards actually make. For example FE vs Auros for example?

One is £650 the other £800. I doubt there is £150 worth of performance difference between the two.

Good for demanding games then :p

Well the upshot of all of these insane GPUs is that they are so focused on 4k that they seem to forget how amazing they are at 1440p.

And yeah, the 3080 FE is gorgeous. Looks lovely and well made, unlike some of that plastic tat being priced at near £700.

Just watched the Cyberpunk demo again and damn it looks good.

Using it as a halo game for Ampere does make a bit of a mockery of that special edition 2080Ti card though doesn't it?

I guess we only get to find out when the embargo lifts ..

I hate it when they dont give us the info. Always something to hide .

For any notable increase you really need to put your hand deep in your pockets. With the 2080Ti that was Aorus Extreme under water, the HOF and the Kingpin. Mine does 2150 all day long on stock voltage. I didn't even bother voiding the warranty for the extra 50mhz.

I do like the look of the FE cards I must admit. I'd like to see what the third parties are going to bring to the table in exchange for their higher pricing (higher clocks etc) so hopefully we'll get some reviews in the next week or two before the FE cards go live.

I had the aorus Ti and it was utter garbage. Built out of milk bottle lids and coke can. Compared to the FE it felt cheap as hell. FE was such a premium feeling product and was actually cooler and quieter. And cheaper!

FE I would stick with or a decent branded card.

You’re still only talking percentage points of difference just generally AIB cards have better coolers but not always and perhaps longer warranty. FE may well be better than what the AIB cards have.

We all know, they will refresh the GPUs next year, with improvements. We also know Samsung 8NM isn't that great,so there is room for this to happen. Then there is the fact if Nvidia can get back on TSMC,their 5NM process node might be like a 1.5X node improvement over Samsung 8NM. So the RTX4000 might be even a bigger improvement.

So in the end,its all down to what you play. If your current system is doing the job, just best to get the most out of it,and maximise the value you get out of what you spend.. If not you piddle money away and still end up essentially getting the same experience. For example in Fallout, the CPU is still the biggest limitation due to AI and drawcalls being loaded onto single threads.I do want a GPU upgrade at some point but honestly,I think the CPU needs improvement first,as my current GPU is CPU limited in some situations. That should help me get more out of my current GPU.
