NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

I don't care about waiting for AMD to show their hand.

1) I'm am NV fanboy and admit that, drivers are stable and unfortunately the only time I strayed to ATI the card was DOA.

2) I have a g-sync monitor

3) AMD aren't going to catch NV. Even if they do NV aren't going to lower prices by an amount I would deem as significant.

4) I need a GPU now and going into winter will enjoy it much more from the outset for longer.

5) there is room for the 3080Ti sure, but only in so far as VRAM upgrade, as has been noted the 3090 is likely 10-15% faster than the 3080 tops. So even if you split the difference the 3080Ti may only be 7.5-10% faster than the 3080, possibly for a grand if the 3080 price remains static and doesn't come down like it did with GTX 1080 Vs 1080Ti.

Does anyone rate MSI cards? Because for me this is the best looker and a decent price.

But I heard this last time. and the time before. and the time before. I just have no faith left. We are ALWAYS told that AMD are going to "blow Nvidia away" and compete at the top end. And they just never do (recently). So forgive me for being a bit unhyped!

I havent said they are going to blow them away. Just match them at a cheaper price. 80% of users will still buy Nvidia though.

I know you haven't but Im saying its the same evertime. everyone says wait for AMD, AMD going to knock it out the park etc etc. and Im sorry but I've just lost hope. I don't think AMD will compete at the 3080 3080Ti and 3090 levels.

The other problem is AMD drivers have never been as robust as nVidia and especially in terms of features like GeForce Experience, Integer Scaling, performance/stability etc.

All I can say is that there's going to be a lot of early adopter 3080 buyers remorse going around in 6-9mths time when Nvidia release the 3080Ti with 20GB of VRAM...:p

Getting older really does teach you the value of 'Patience is a virtue'.
Would love to know what money tree you have in your garden. Any TI version is going to be at least 300-400 more.
Big difference in price here for most people who would already be pondering if a 3080 is 'really' worth it over just getting a 3070.

I'm thinking people will need the Ti with 16Gb* VRAM quicker than they think, some clever vram marketing going on here, I'm suspicious of the 80/90 gap. I wish I wasn't cause it would be a no brainer.

Take my money for a 3090 now :D
That's what I'm thinking. Cant be bothered upgrading more than once per generation and in the past just bought the Titans on release, until last gen where only bought the 2080. Need to think about how much gaming I'll do looking ahead to justify it but we are heading into winter 'stay in' months. For now I've registetered to be notified of both the 3080 and 3090 so may decide when available, or potentially leave it a while as the 2080 is still enough for my needs, really. Shiny new stuff always nice tho :p

The 3070 and 3080 are truly priced to get people (like me) to upgrade from Pascal. And well, it's working. They will go down as great bang for buck cards.

I’m a green team always will be on no offence to amd owners. I’d like to see amd give nvidia a fight but I just can’t see it some how unfortunately.I hope I’m wrong price info on these card is good for except for the 3090 of course but if you can afford it why not ppl will
Moan of course ppl buying the top sausage but if I get the good times I had with my 2080ti I’ll be well pleased

Will be interesting to see how these cards do in the real world with vram usage at really high resolutions.

I realise they have improved bandwidth and that IO thing, but im still apprehensive about possibly getting a 3070 because 8gb just doesn't seem enough, especially with the new consoles coming on the scene. 8gb shipped with the 1070 4 years go!

I would feel a lot happier if the 3070 and 3080 had 12gb each.

I initially intended to buy 2 3090s for SLI, but I am starting to think that this might be a bit overkill for 4K gaming.

Then again, I can’t get a minimum of 60 FPS in RDR2 maxed out with 2 2080 Tis, so I doubt that a single 3090 will be able to.

Then again, SLI doesn’t scale 100% in RDR2.

Not sure what to do.
