NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

What's the difference between the Founders edition and the RoG Strixx? Why is the Asus card £150 more expensive?

Some people are missing the point about the decrease in value of the 2080 series as it's not about normal depreciation.
Comparing it to a new car is plain wrong.
You don't buy a mark 8 Golf GTi for £25k and then a month later the mark 9 with only a GT badge is released which is faster with more features for less than half the price.
That is the equivalent here.

It's not typical for a high end card to lose so much perceived value overnight but it does happen when certain criteria are met.
It's a good thing as long as you aren't left holding the parcel.

Most people would buy a car and then use it. Cars are not investments, unless they are collectable. You buy them to use in daily life.

Same goes for GPUs. Or CPUs. Or any phone or pretty much anything in this incredible material life we live. None hold their value. You need to accept that when you buy things and get the full use out of them is all. Not panic, sell at a huge loss and then spend more. Well, unless you desperately need it and I don't think that applies to many here if at all.

Not sure how you can say that when the chart with the average of all games tested, half with RTX and DLSS switch on showed the 2070 "just" beats out the 2080ti.

From that I take it that 3070 will be slower than the 2080ti in every game without RTX and beats it when switched on.
No one games without rtx and dlss, madness!

thinking the same to be honest!
I had to return a 2080Ti version of these due to a bad fan, and I have to say the MSI customer service was shocking - they didn't even want to talk to me. So that personal experience, plus the shady goings on as discussed on Gamers Nexus, makes me want to avoid this like the plague. But if I can see past these, I have a feeling it will be one of the better ones for sure.

Are your mates anti-AMD? :p
I meant class - they like me will go purely by price/performance.

I was expecting consistency with the last generation for power consumption has ryan says the extra performance has come at the expense of increased wattage. I would not be surprised when the refresh comes if they try to reduce that.
It shows the Samsung node isn't really competitive with TSMC.

I'd need a huge price incentive now as it's old tech and there seems to have been a big jump this gen and RTX appears to have matured a lot, it's not just been the usual marginal increase with a price hike attached, especially nothing like the entire Turing reaming.

Indeed, so I guess the rtx 2080ti is worth £350ish, some might so lower.

Lol. Feel free to strawman, you lost simples.

Oh and it was not lower than I thought, maybe you need a pair of glasses but I said it would be this price and stated exactly the reason.

Yea, no problem if it's over, I am sure you won't reply to this. Oh but we all know you will ;)

Quote yourself with the exact prices, before yesterday then. That is what most would do. You said nothing I didn't. They would be fast, they would be cheaper than Turing.

"I lost". What would that be exactly?

Like I said, you are twisting my words. Continue to do so if you like, doesn't bother me any.

Terrible value for money but its does appear to be 20% quicker. That is not insignificant. Its as much of more than the gap was between the 2080 and 2080ti. Its only the price which is wrong with the 3090.

Now if they dropped 8gb from it and say called it a 3080ti and released it for £1000 then it will sell ;)

True and MSFS2020 maxes out my 11GB vram, so 24GB would be very nice

Hmmm a 20gb 3080ti for $999 would serve me well I think. I may wait this out and not pre order a 3090 like i did with Pascal Titan only to discover I could have saved £300 a couple of months later.
It's a no brainer, looks like the enthusiast sweet spot GPU.

All I can say is that there's going to be a lot of early adopter 3080 buyers remorse going around in 6-9mths time when Nvidia release the 3080Ti with 20GB of VRAM...:p

Getting older really does teach you the value of 'Patience is a virtue'.

But it will be a fair bit more expensive than the 3080 launch price surely and you wouldn't have the benefit of all those months of using a 3080. I could also sell my 3080 for a minimal loss and upgrade to the ti. There is always something new on the horizon and life is too short.

Prices can change guys, either way remember that, it is very early days and pricing is yet to finalised by many board partners.
OcUK will aim to have largest range online and the very best prices with plenty of stock coming in. :)
