Is it worth cashing in my 2080ti for a RTX 3080? Use a RTX 2060 in the short term?

BS, they are here I can go and find them if need be or simply Google the launch reviews and again the 1080Ti is not a 4k card.

The same BS you cherry picked had 1080p and 1440p results, some on same chart.

With your view then before the 1080Ti the 980Ti was the 4k card?

You can write BS BS BS but without actually proving anything your assertions are entirely without merit and can be completely dismissed. Go find the reviews and posts where "at launch the benches showed the Titan Xp/1080Ti were equal or faster in some games and slower in other games than the 2080Ti.". Look at the FPS numbers in the 2080ti launch reviews and see how often the 1080ti averages 60FPS in games at 4K 2 years after launch. The 1080ti was a more than capable 4K card, it still is: https://www.techspot.com/review/2088-geforce-2080ti-vs-1080ti-vs-980ti/ (the bottom graph shows a 14 game average FPS of 60 at 4K)

I didn't pick those results, that is all the results from a massive 35 game benchmark done by Steve Walton from Hardware Unboxed. I chose that article because he provides good summary graphs and benches a wide selection of games.

But here is the TPU launch review of the 2080ti, showing it to be on average 33% faster than the 1080ti at 1440p https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-2080-ti-founders-edition/33.html

980ti struggled as a 4K card, it could play them but in order to hit 60FPS you often had to turn settings down. However in 2015, 4K was much less popular so there wasn't really a good 4K card but if you wanted to play at 4K, you bought a 980ti.

The marketing might have suggested the 1080Ti was a 4K card but in reality and by those that owned it, it fell just short of what I would call a 4K card, and by that I mean be able to play most AAA games at 4k Ultra settings at 60 fps +.

Though you are perfectly correct in your main point; the 1080TI was never at any time faster than a 2080Ti in anything that I played. (This is also shown in the video I linked earlier in this thread)
