Do we think the 3080 will be enough for 3440x1440 @ 165hz

I've got a 34GN850 3440x1440 165hz monitor and am looking to get a new card to drive the frames.

I sold my 2080Ti for 900 around a month ago and have been saving for a new card so have money for a 3090.

Question is will the 3080 be enough for 165 fps at this resolution saving some money or will a 3090 be required.

If can wait a couple of months there will likely be a 3080Ti you can buy. If not 3080 should be plenty until the 4080 arrives. To get a rough idea add around 40% extra performance on to what you used to get to have an idea. Your call in the end.

Best bet wait for reviews and make up mind though.

Without actual benchmarks, it's hard to really know. Given the % increase between the various versions, You could be looking at 144+ for 1440p but again, we don't really know to be honest.

You would have to drop settings. It's very game dependent.

Unlikely at that high refresh. I have the same resolution on a 2080ti. Not many demanding games I get over 120fps (my max refresh).
