Not sure yet. I was planning to go top end this round but just unsure how much gaming i'll be doing in the near term. So maybe 3080 again or just continue using the 2080 which I'll probably hold onto anyway.
Have an expensive couple of months too so being a tightwad the temptation to hold out is strong :D, welll, until I see the "order now" in front of me at least.

Since I said I'd buy a 30** series card the LED's on my 2080 have started working again so I'm typing this from another computer. Jensen is watching :P

I'm still on Vega56 (that I picked up for £250)

I am tempted with by 3070 or 3080 as I'm now running a 1440p 165hz screen.

But I'm not struggling for performance in the games I'm playing at the moment so I'm going to wait for benchmarks on the new cards and see how it looks. I may wait for AMD and see if price/performance is better there.

I sometimes wonder what games some of you guys are playing to need more GPU than a 2080ti..

100fps and freesync and I'm happy.

For my current 1440p screen I would be more than happy with a 2080ti + 10ish% on top. However, if I were rocking a 4k screen I would want at least 40% more than that.

I voted 3080 as I intend to trade up to a 3080ti in 6 months. I expect to lose £200 on the 3080 and pay around £850 for the 3080ti.

I might decide at the last minute that it's worth the £350 to have the best performance now, and therefore go for the 3090. :)

3080Ti will be a grand. almost certainly.
3080 Super (if there is one) will be around £850.

No one can be certain of prices, the Ampere launch has taught us that much. My reasoning is that a 3080ti will be released to compete with Consoles & Navi therefore like the 3080 it will be priced keenly. A grand is also too close to 3090 prices, IMO.

I may get a 3090...but it depends on the performance difference with the 3080. I am not sure where my pain threshold is, but if the performance difference between the 3090 and 3080 compared to the cost difference causes my brain to scream out in pain, then 3080 it will be. Certainly will not wait for AMD. Last time I bought one of those it was nothing but problems. Never again.

A grand is fully £400 less than the 3090! that's hardly close.

I suspect.

3080 Super - £800/850
3080Ti - £999/1100

That's why I said IMO. ;)

If a 3080ti is costing £1100 then I'd be best buying a 3090 now as I would be waiting 6 months to save £300. I'd rather enjoy the performance for those 6 months.

I won't be able to afford a 3080 in till end of October/beginning of November so think I'll wait for the hype to die down and see AMDS hand first... I'll still buy Nvidia due to previous issues with a 5700XT but if they release a 3080 Ti at the 3080 price +£50 at most and reduced the 3080 then win win!

I wonder if covid will have a impact on people willing to spend on luxury items like GPU's, I'm sure a lot off people have been impacted financial and may have more important priorities to spend there cash on because of it.
