NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Very good to hear !

Now to await mini LED screens ! :D

There should be a 32" mini LED screen out next year with 2 million zones for hdr which, on paper, should compete quite well with OLED.

Only problem is, i suspect for the money you will be able to buy almost two LG OLED TVs.

So maybe 2022 before they become affordable.

Run Samsung q80t. Just worried with Oled and burn in from overlays etc

There’s a big thread on the 48” CX OLED over on the monitors forum.

There are a couple of large threads about these and similar TV's.

Have a look in https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/community/home-cinema-hi-fi.29/

Also perhaps monitors forum.

Gaming nothing will touch it. I have a 55” E8 and it’s on another level to any tv or monitor out there. Picture quality, hdr, clarity is stunning. I’d imagine it’s even better with 4k 120hz (mine is limited to 4k 60 or 1080p 120 however it just gets used with a controller as it’s a decent distance away).

Burn is a possibility and for me personally I’ve put probably the same amount of gaming and tv/film hours without any issues. So ideally it’s use really needs to be at least varied to some degree.

I’d be a little worried running one 24/7 as a monitor unless you plan varied use, however I have considered getting a 48” for just that. Little to big for my setup though I think.

Thanks for the info gents. definitely looking more into this. Burn-in is definitely a concern, but at the same time, im sure there are some things that can be done easily to mitigate it. Will check out the threads and read more about them. I love the idea of having an OLED HDR 120HZ with VRR for gaming, but if there are better alternatives we will see.

GPU wise, I think the 3080 is going to fair nicely. I was hoping they would ship the 3080ti out of the gate, but Nvidia know their real market is 3070 and then 3060.

Just great. Imagine how many cardless folk there'll be if prices go nuts straight away and Nvidia run out of FE cards on their site! Here's hoping this won't bloom the same way as last time out.

That's ok, if you can't get one of these you can grab an enhanced 3080 with double the ram in 2 months time...

Will NVidia care that much? If they sell well to miners, they're still selling well. Just means they'll get to sell to gamers on top of that too. At a potentially increased price due to demand.

Do mining cards need a lot of vram? Does it make much difference to them? Could be 3080 is the mining card, 3080ti will be the gaming one.

This Asus (https://rog.asus.com/articles/gamin...ni-led-monitor-delivers-4k-gaming-at-144hz/)? Yeah, miniLED is for sure the future for monitors, OLED has no chance by the time it sorts out manufacturing problems it will be totally outclassed etc.

2021-2022 years of the miniled, for both monitors and TVs. It's gonna be beautiful! :D

Nah thats just an early starter. Its only 576 zones. Asus will also have a 32" 4k 1152 zone mini led out this year but its going to be £3,500.

Next year the 10,000 and 2 million zone mini led panels will be available. Thats when we will get 144Mhz, 2 million zone, HDR1000 IPS screens which can compete (to a degree) with the OLED TVs.

But since Asus wants £3,500 for their 1156 zone 120Hz 32" 4k screemn, I dread to think what the first 2 million zone screens will cost.

Will be at least 2022 or maybe 2023 before mini led becomes affordable. Until then I will make do with my OLED TV.

Any retailer who puts a 200 quid price gouge on a card should be boycotted..

It will happen if the rumours of very limited supply before January are true and the miners want them as well. As much as you hate it, there will be people who will pay that £200 premium.
