I've switched my vote from 3080 to 3090. It'll mean no need to upgrade for another 2 years and maybe 4 if the next batch doesn't interest me.

It's been over 3 years since my last GPU purchase and that's been good. To be honest, if I didn't need HDMI 2.1 I could skip this generation, too.

The Vram on the 3090 is edging it for me.

Only you and maybe one other will buy that, so no one cares :p

They do not want to acknowledge that the Titan will be the top dog ;)

The RTX 3090 won't even be the second best card in the Ampere lineup.

There will be a full fat GA102 card and also a Titan possibly even on GA100.

I do hope people remember that GPUs are for gaming on and not long term investments.

Any serious gamer should enjoy the 3090 Ampere cards for what they are (the fastest option available now) and get some good use out of them.

There will always be faster cards around the corner. As for me I have just got a couple of fantastic new beer mats, they are golden in colour and you can even use them for hot drinks up to 84C with any damage.:D

I've got a horrible feeling that 3090 that Jensen brought out the oven was possibly powering the oven. :p

Has anyone made a poll thread yet for which GPU members on here are thinking of buying out the 3070, 3080, & 3090 ?

I myself have no idea how to make a poll thread :o:p

I'm going to wait for amd launch then the super launch in retaliation.

I'll get the 3070 super most likely.

I've had my 2070 super for around a year or so so I have plenty of warranty left and I got my money's worth out of it over the last year especially with the lockdown.

So it owes me nothing in that respect. But I'll keep it for a while yet. It runs so cool and efficient it's going to be hard to find an upgrade which runs so well in terms of heat and noise.

It's the best card I've ever owned. Waiting for the refresh is best I think by then gpu manufacturers really know how to get the best out of them and cool them sufficiently

3080 for me, I'm using a 2080 now but its just too close to my birthday not to use that as an excuse to upgrade and the 2080 has been good for 2 years but its struggling at 4K

3080 for me, hopefully at £650! Worst case they release a Ti version within 12 months and have the option to sell or keep.

Guessing at 1440p it'll be a keeper.

Will likely wait and keep my b grade 2070s that I got at the start of the year for lockdown.

Think I will buy an xbox series x for next gen games, and keep the 2070s for strategy games etc on PC because it plays everything at 1440p absolutely fine at the moment.

Then once the xbox starts showing its age compared to pc tech in couple of years, I will sell it and get whatever decent gpu is out then. Think i might combine that then with whole new Zen4 build with ddr5 ram, USB 4.0 etc as that's the going to be the next big jump.

That is unless AMD surprise us big time with price/performance.

PS5.

Cutting edge graphics cards used to be £200-300 now you're looking at least double that for not even top end, just 2nd or 3rd best. Not to mention PC is all locked into digital services like Steam.

Pretty sure I'm getting the 3080 or the 20gb variant, but I'll still be wait for amd to release theirs just to see what effect if any that'll have on prices.

Yeh there is certainly a disparity there now.

I mean in 2005/2006 the xbox 360 had a $299/$399 price point depending on the model and the PS3 was $499/$599 and the equivalent XX80 type tier cards were more like $300-$400 (7900gtx / x1900xt etc).

This year console prices will still be around the same prices as 2005/2006, but the XX80 GPU type tier is now $699!!

Console prices arent moving much as they need to remain affordable, and if anything are getting more reasonable for what you get. High tier GPU's are getting rather expensive in comparison. Are we getting more for our money in comparison? There is no doubting their power. By the time the consoles are released, Ampere will already be much more powerful (though that advantage wont be seen much due to the efficiency of console coding), and no doubt in a few years, PC gpus will leave the consoles for dust as always.... but at what cost!? An increasingly high one.

Vote changed again, awaiting AMD's news which is imminent, apparently. Wouldn't it be great to have an option to punish Nvidia for the Turing disgrace? :D
