hes 13 plays fortnite .cod. fifa etc its going to be 1200 just on pc he has screen /keyboard etc am think of going down self built route cheers

By Christmas we should have whole bunch of new graphics cards and likely also improved Zen3 architecture CPUs from AMD.

I would ask a bit closer to Xmas whenever AMD's new Zen 3 CPUs are due release. At that point I'd likely recommend the Ryzen 3600 or 3700X Zen 3 equivalent with a Nvidia 3070 GPU

Edit: Would go with something like the below as an example - but wait til new AMD CPUs out and get the 4600/4700 + the Nvidia 3070 GPU for ~£470. Tbh the 3600 would be ample but pricing on OcUK has crept up massively, 3600 is £220 but can be had £180 elsewhere right now.

Edit2: Tbh even AMD might have some decent next-gen budget GPUs you could go for instead by then with RDNA2.

i think i might wait till november time as yous say the new ryzen are out then but defo going to go for a 3070 or do you think to go for the 3080 and also is this a good motherboard compared to the ones yous have listed https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...i-amd-am4-b550-atx-motherboard-mb-6fc-as.html

If he's only gaming @ 1080p then 3070 should more than suffice. But we'll know more come 14th next week, when the NDA lifts on the 30 series GPUs and we can see reviews in the flesh with actual gaming performance figures.

And yeah that Asus mobo is a decent choice if he needs WiFi. Comes with a cheeky free mouse too that may be of use to him lol

Just seen this announcement from AMD too - they're holding the Zen 3 event 8th October, then their RX 6000 GPUs on October 28th. Leads me to think launches will be Nov maybe??
