Still leaning towards zotac 3080. What puts me off though is not seeing reviews of the cooler before taking the plunge.

If the FE reviews on 14th show it runs cool enough to boost well, I may go that way instead.

The idiot in me still wants that ridiculously large 3090 FE, even though it is complete overkill and horrible value over the 3080...

I get why people want to get these cards straight away, FOMO and all that, but it really makes sense to wait for reviews of the cards to come out before you part with your dosh.

That's what I'll be doing and if it means I might have to wait a couple or more months until I purchase, no biggie.

So if I need another HDMI for 4k60 (not HDMI 2.1) it would not be as simple as just using a DP > HDMI cable? Even if the new card has DP++ ??

Would I need an active adapter such as the Club3D if I want to use it for HDMI 2.0 4k 60 ?

Simple 4k60 is easy with cheap adaptors (dp to hdmi), but as soon as you introduce more variables that's when the issues arise (HDR, VRR etc).

ubisoft strike again. what else is new.

Yeah, I know, it just makes me sad because I love that game.

Yea I get that point of view. My only other concern is it's more than a couple of months and by the time the arrive in stock prices go nuts.

Murmurings of another mining craze doesn't sound promising...

I would want to do HDMI 4k60 HDR 4:2:2 from one of the DP ports, would I need a cheapo adapter or a club 3D one? Or just a DP > HDMI cable?

Yes I agree 100% on waiting for reviews. I will wait for Amd as well, I have no favour for either lot and just think it is sensible to wait. I hope Amd have something to bring them back into the game near the top end. If its Nvidia I go for then it will be the 3080 as that 3090 is a monster and stupid money, which I have but would never spend. If I have to wait 2 or 3 months so be it, rather that than buy a turd. I may even get a new Xbox as my son prefers consoles for gaming.

In theory it should work fine with cheapo one but in practice I'd read reviews for the adaptor in question and see if others got that to work fine.

I forgot to mention. I didn't hear Jensen mention "GigaRays" this time with Ampere :p

Wonder what Gigarays the new series kick out compared to last?

Wasn't that going to be the new measuring stick with RT performance? :D

its more the pricing costs of demand being greater then supply. any covid issues along with if Pound drops and the Dollar is going up currently (felt it in Oil prices yesterday for work dropping $5 a barrel ) . Cards will get inflated .

Borderlands 3 is the one you'd think is the least demanding. HU did a good video on settings to improve performance, though.

I'll wait for official results before making any decisions.

I wonder how well these would run on a 3080 with Ryzen 5 3600

I agree £450 is a bargain and you can even pay monthly which will include games pass. The difference in performance with pc just isn't worth the huge price difference.
And theyr'e doing an S, which I think may not have 8k, disc drive and something else and if thats' the case but the tech is basically the same at £299 is a steal! How they will do this is beyond me!
