That's really no excuse he's probably the highest paid driver on the grid. People were arguing before that he's performing badly because he's fell out of love with F1 but if he had he wouldn't have signed for Aston Martin.

Depends how much money is on the table.

RP are estimated to be paying Perez $8 million. Even an 'out of love' driver is going to happily sign a contract for a $10m+ a year if it's offered to him.

I know what you mean but it could just be that he needs people around him bigging him up and nurturing him for him to be able to give his best. So with his current situation of them not wanting to give him a contract, putting their long term faith in Leclerc etc he may now have just resigned himself to his fate. You could have course argue that this would spur a lot of people on to prove a point to Ferrari on his way out but if his car offers only 95% compared to the other, maybe he doesnt find that possible. Who knows. I just didn't think the gap would all be Leclerc being the superior driver.

So fast and still so close at the front. I
Don’t know how they do it. I love the gravel, no margin for error, it’s great to see.

It would be interesting to know how far they've overclocked their engines. i.e. are they this close with standard clocks or are Merc being conservative/Red Bull overclocked or are Red Bull and Merc overclocked to the max!

What must be going through Bottas' head. He looked quicker through all the practice sessions

The opposite Merc seat to LH and the opposite RB seat to MV have to be the hardest seats to be in in F1. I can't imagine the pressure to be fair. (Probably worse at RB due to the driver merry go round for seat 2/all the young guns waiting in the wings...)

It does feel like Hamilton has absolute control this year. He seems to know exactly what he’s doing.

Hamilton's superpower is that he always delivers when it counts. How many times do we see Bottas (and in previous years the Ferraris) faster during free practice, only for Hamilton to mug everyone in Q3?
