NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

"It appears that currently, the best RTX 3080 variant is … NVIDIA Founders Edition"

Same with 1000 series clock per clock higher scores.

I and many tried the 3rd party OC Bioses with 20-40% extra Power when I had a 1080Ti and had lower score at same core and no gain to core OC.

So just left it alone and 2100mhz all day long in Heaven/Valley (yes full fan but its a benchmark so do not really care about noise).

If the difference is about 2000 points in Timespy I dont think its worth getting a 3080 over a 2080TI. Thats potentially nearly £1800 gone to get a score of 17000-18000 in Timespy which is one way of looking at it.
Probably turn out an overclocked 2080ti is just about near a 3080 default clocked card. I've gone (2000 points) that much gain with cards in the past in 3DMark and the difference has been a little underwhelming for the cost of the outlay. Ideally you want something that you can actually notice as an improvement in the games you like to play not just what the figures or fps says.

Waiting can be sensible and wallet friendly.
If you give a 2080ti 320w it's almost on par with a 3080.

There is a good reason for that. Firstly they will be a higher BIN, where as with AIBs they have to play the lottery. That's why all of the reviews will be Founders cards. It's to make the tech look better (cherry picked binned samples). This is not new, every company does this.

There is a reason why some of the AIB cards you have seen only have two 8 pin. Believe me, if the core was able to surpass the two 8 pins power wise you would have a fire. So you can be pretty certain it cannot, like the Asus Dual I got with one 8 pin that was limited to 1920mhz under water.

That is why I added my own findings on 1000 series and read it was the same for 2000 series but cannot say first hand as did not fancy one so skipped them.

Maybe not if it's reaching temps over 80c as reported somewhere, although that could be counteracted putting a block on it but then that's just extra costs.

For comparison my 1080ti amp extreme never goes over 67-68 max load whereas others at the time were going in the 80s.

Bottom line is these retailers are going to suffer if prices keep going up, people won't give a **** about the power placement and just buy FE, you may even get a good clocker if temps are lower than 80s that is.

Retailers can say all they want about AIBs forcing them to put the price up but having researched that the FE is a good cooler this time and not cheap apparently the AIB case of prices going doesn't stand to me.

If all are up to £700 come the 17th I'll be camping on Nvidias website depending on results.

Tbh it'd be good news for us if the FE is a great card because it'd force AIB partners to keep pricing competitive. Of course, if they don't then FE stock will disappear and everyone will just get gouged by AIBs anyway rather than wait, so maybe I'm wrong.

Pretty much. There's a reason Nvidia themselves are only making a small batch, and I reckon it's not because these coolers are so cheap to make. :)

If the 3080 is a mere 20-30% above the 2080Ti I’ll for sure be waiting for the 3080Ti or whatever that is. Or perhaps even next gen.

The 3090 isn’t tempting me at £1400. A Ti variant at under £1000 may be tempting though.

My 1080Ti doesn't overclock well. The core is just "okay" and the ram is terrible. I don't even trust +50 on the ram.

Ah, forgot they redefined 'could/might' and the whole article is guesswork

Wish people would stop posting musings from Redditors/YouTubers as fact.

Agreed that article was total guesswork.

There is no way NVidia are going to stop selling direct as it gives them the opportunity to cut out the middleman and maximise profit.

LOL what did you expect, Nvidia to tell you flat out what they're doing? We can gleam info only from second-hand sources who then earn a reputation through their accuracy (or lack thereof).

Makes sense except for the simple fact that Nvidia could have always done that and still they don't yet take over the AIB's business. Why is that?

That's a 5% to 10% overclock.

Post the screenshot like that. As always Power limit god damn it need higher for Watercooling then again silicone maybe cant do higher frequency. But When I slam it under water ill see whats the real deal.
