Is RTX 3080 overkill for my monitor(s)?

I'm planning on builidng a gaming PC with the new RTX 3080.currently don't own a gaming PC.
I was planning to use my TV (Samsung QLED) as display (it does 4K 60Hz,but NOT 4K 120Hz or 1440P 120Hz),so I started thinking about getting a Monitor 1440P 165Hz.(max budget for monitor will be £350-£400)

so my questions are:

1-is the RTX3080 overkill for either of these monitors?
2-Is it worth buying a 1440P 165Hz monitor when I have that 4K 60Hz TV?

I won't be doing anything beside gaming with that PC,and I don't do competitive FPS etc, single player only but obviously I want the best result possible.

Thanks!

RTX 3080 won't be overkill for a 4k/60hz screen. I'd say it was pretty much perfect to be honest.

I play all my PC games on my OLED TV, with an Xbox Elite 2 controller in hand.

I'd say spunking money on a 1440p 165Hz screen for single player games was absolutely pointless.

So do you play 4k / 60 FPS?
or does your OLED support higher framerate (100 and above) with 2K etc?
most people prefer higher than 60 framerate to 4k,and that's my main dilemma also.

I play at 4k/60fps with my current 2080Ti (my screen also supports G-sync)

My OLED is a native 120hz panel though, so when these new cards are released, they have 'HDMI 2.1' which is required to for framerates higher than 60hz at 4k+ resolutions

Most people prefer higher frame rates for competitive multiplayer, which you said you don't do. And your QLED TV will be miles better (in terms of picture quality) than some £350 monitor.

yeah,I agree,I think I better build the PC and try it on this TV first before deciding about buying a 1440P 165Hz monitor.playing at a desk was not my original plan anyway.
selling a giant TV is a real pain (and loss)and it’s only 2.5 years old otherwise I’d have upgraded to a newer QLED Q90 / LG OLED C9/CX that supports hdmi 2.1
