I'm guessing there will be a lot of shock and then denial at the tiny performance per watt gains from Turing. 30-40% performance increase for 30% more power draw (3080 vs 2080 Ti, which is the correct comparison based on transistors and where they sit in the stack).
In all honesty it has been that way since the 1080Ti.

About a month after that I bought a XP. It clocked to 1780, then hit 80c and down clocked to 1580 or so. I used that exact block, and a 240 rad like they did and it lived its life in various forms (replaced the block later with a EK) at 2130mhz. That's a big slice of performance to be leaving on the table tbh. We're not talking a couple of hundred mhz here, we are talking 500. 400 or so on the 1080Ti.
That was the main reason why I bought the 2080Ti Kingpin (that and I am a bit of a nerd for engineering). The Hybrid 240 was out of of stock, and it would have cost me £250 for the Bitspower Lotan block (the Kingpin one wasn't even available in the UK).
Again, it makes a huge difference. Straight to 2150 on stock volts. With no noise, and barely breaks 40c.
If Ampere actually overclocks (better than the G6X on it that's for sure) then I assure you there will be so much performance left on the table because the air can't handle it. The problem for me is even under water that heat has to be gotten rid of. So when I started folding my TR rig with a 2070 in it in May I soon called it off. I was dripping in sweat just sitting there.

NDA lifted for FE (not sure about AIB) cards tomorrow 16th at 2pm UK time. For sale 17th at 2pm UK time.
Some store in the US has some listings up (not for order yet) so there's some new images of EVGA cards. The XC3 looks nice imo and seems like it may cool decently with the 3 fans and a very open back plate.
with the exception of that red ribbon at the end, I think EVGA have made the best looking cards so far

Seriously? I thought EVGA's cards has gotten worse on looks. The 1080Ti FTW3 was nice and clean.
Sadly no, I've not been tracking any brands. Only saw the founders and this EVGA.
The ampere FTW3 looks a bit RBG vomit too. XC3 is nice, probably my preferred out of every card so far but obviously not got that flagship cooling that the FTW3 will.
Shame I will be upgrading - I really love my FTW3 hybrid.

Same, cant decide on which. FE seems a solid choice and water cooling is the plan asap, so FE would be a solid option in that case. Stock may make the choice for me
Yeah, I really wish they would tell us whats in stock and what isnt.
Why don't they review the 3090 at the same time as the 3080 then you know whether to wait or not seems daft to me im thinking i might not buy the PS5 that will be 500 quid and sell my playstation 4 pro i could get the 3090 but i don't know how much faster its going to be.
Hyped up too much for me it will probably be crap.I'm not a huge gamer but I like to think I keep 'in touch'.....what's the big deal with Cyberpunk?! Watched a preview, but wasn't THAT impressed....what am I missing?
Either way, my 980ti needs upgrading, the new 10900k needs a new friend!
