NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Looks like this will be making a return :D Someone needs to update it for the ampere models though :p

Most of the AIB cards will do the same, as they all have a passthrough in the backplate (exception in the MSI cards).

Unless you're air cooling your CPU, you'll be fine...if anything it will help, since you're not just blowing the hot air from the card back in to the case, which would eventually be drawn back up to the top of the case anyway. At least that's the theory from watching the Gamers Nexus video.

I disagree. Some have metal backplates, some are plastic. Some have no passthroughs, some have one at the end. Some like the EVGA have the entire backplate with ventilation holes. Some have heatpipes on the backplates, some dont. There is quite a bit of difference in the type and size of the main coolers and the fan designs. Some have the same cooler on as their 3090 cards, some dont.

I think there is going to be major variations is temperature and noise between the AIB cards and because max boost is linear to temp, big variations in the boost clocks different AIB acheive.

I wouldnt want to be buying an AIB card without seeing a roundup of all the cards.

So pre-orders don't go up until tomorrow? A certain UK high street store has them for pre-order, for delivery 18th - 19th, I suspect they'll get a lot of unhappy customers

Wiel pre-orders before the 17th is breaking Nvidia's agreement and if they are a Nvidia partner they will be in hot water. If they arent a Nvidia Partner then they wont get shipped any cards to sell at launch so there will be delays. Or thats what Gibbo
said.

Nvidia does seem to have locked down this launch tighter than any launch previously so I can see that happening.
