OcUK Ampere RTX3000 series review thread

Looks abit mah, 300/350w GPU power and its getting hot close to 80c no wounder nvidia redesign the cooler.

Now it makes sense why the price is lower they knew the backlash would be on a massive scale.

I could just sit on 1440p with my Titan Xp (2017) and play my quite big backlog of games and wait on 4000 series and whatever Intel Mobo/CPU is top then.

Though it may cost less to upgrade now as my card will be worth even less later.
Ive got a titanxp under water ive decided to keep it as plays everything with ease at 1440p and just upgrading my cpu instead

I'm going to wait for AMD to release their stuff but ...

At ~30% average performance gain over the 2080Ti at 4K, this is certainly an interesting card and quite tempting. It looks like it can promise a much more stable 4K60, which the 2080Ti struggled with on some games.

Also the FE cooler looks pretty epic, combining normal fan and blower styles.

They'd better be able to compete with the '80 card this time though, or they're basically toast. (IMHO, of course.)

3080 seems like twice the performance of 5700XT. AMD also promised 2x 5700XT for the RDNA2. So there's a chance that we'll see some competition for 3080.

Well, to me this is only a disappointment for the 1% of people that are always buying at the bleeding edge. 30% faster than a 2080ti - how is that bad? I can certainly see why 2080ti owners won't move on, but does nvidia expect them to? Probably not. For me this looks good, and I am looking to get a 3070 to replace my vega 56. Or whatever AMD come out with. We shall see...

It's only a disappointment because Nvidia set the expectations pretty high, and quite clearly, underdelivered. If they hadn't implied the whole "2x performance of 2080" then people would have been thrilled.

It's not really 30%, and it's even less when you count in OC vs OC, that's why. Yes, still better than 2080 Ti at a lower price but that's only good if you take Turing's price gouging for granted as the new normal. This time both consoles & RDNA 2 are presenting a real challenge for these gpu's values so in context it just doesn't look like the knock-out it was hyped to be. More like another passable generation of cards, but no more.

Meh. Roll on November.
