I'm hoping launch titles that are first party we get Ratchet and Clank, Spider Man.

Along with new FIFA,COD for me and the above titles I'd be set

Tie me for for abit.

I suspect Sony may announce PS Now will be bundled in with PS Plus to try make it more appealing Vs Game Pass

Cyberpunk isn't getting a proper next-gen release until next year, it'll just be the PS4 version until then.
Yeah, I saw that. If it reviews as well as everyone hopes then I'll get it anyway and re-play it when the update arrives. Assuming the PS4 version is playable off the bat on PS5. I've kept my TLOU2 physical copy hoping for an upgrade on that too.

Nah, looking back it seems I never bought PS4 nor PS4 Pro until the Easter after launch. Probably same with PS5, so March 2021. There'll be so much on Xbox Series X for me to play until then.

Haha, I love the idea that you are asking old iC1male what you should do. "Old me waited so I should probably wait"

It depends on pricing really. If the Digital Edition really is coming in at £349, I'll be biting Sony's hand off. If it's £399, I'll consider it. If it's £449, nope.

I apologize in advance because I'll be changing my plans more than I change my undies over the next 8 weeks depending on what new things are shown from both parties.

Assuming a £349 price for the digital version, I'm very interested in the initial savings but worried about not being able to afford games in the long term (especially at £60 per game).

With regards to digital subscriptions, if I was to subscribe to Playstation Plus (mandatory for both systems anyway) and EA Play, I'd get a whole bunch of digital games for £80 per year (retail). Then all I would need to buy is the odd game i'm specifically interested in. At the moment that is Spiderman, maybe Avengers and Star Wars Squadrons. Seems like I'd only need to buy a very small number of games each year, then, and wrap my head around not being able to trade anything in.

Doesn't seem that bad for the initial saving at the expected price.... As that would give me some breathing room to maybe fit the 3d pulse headset in...

It has to be - all games released since July have to run on the PS5 natively. Just assume any PS4 game is going to be fine on the PS5 - either running in "compatibility mode" or getting a boost unless you hear different.
It is going to be such a tiny minority of games that are going to have issue at launch.

That's my line of thinking, too. I could go either Series S + PS5 disc version or Series X + PS5 digital edition. So I leave at least one of them capable of discs that I could buy and sell on the Members' Market here. As you say, digital games are expensive when there's no way to trade them in.

That's not quite true Sony stated games up to a certain date in being produced had to be.

So if the game finished being made prior to the date Sony gave it may not work on PS5

It was nothing to do with games actual release date

Well, it's certification rather than release or production.

Sony has told PlayStation 4 game developers that any new titles submitted for certification must also be compatible with PlayStation 5, beginning 13th July.

They must be releasing prices tonight, otherwise what is the point of the event? They need something to rival their competition who have already released info.

If the ps5 pre orders go up tonight, any of you guys gonna go for it ?

If they appeared tonight of course I would.
However they won't, Sony said they would not just start pre-orders without an announcement - which is exactly what they would be doing if they started them at the end of the show.

It doesn't really matter - the vast majority of games are just going to run and realistically it's just going to be a handful of older games or those badly coded that were "allowed to just run as fast as they can" with the hardware, rather than the hard limits of the PS4 coded in.
None of the big titles from the last few years are not going to just run - they will either work as they are of there will be day 1 patches.
The idea that something released this year isn't going to just run is pretty unrealistic.

More games, more hype, then at the very, very end - prices and launch date with pre-order dates.

If they don't, they'll lose so many sales to MS. Now MS have fully shown their hand, Sony can decide on how to compete - whether that's on price, launch games, performance, or maybe a 'hidden' feature that hasn't been announced yet! :D

Genuine question.
Do you believe that if Sony do not release prices/release date/pre-order dates tonight, people who have decided they are going to take the PS5 route are going to say "You know what, no - I'm going to go order an Xbox now"?

I reckon (more than) a few would, yeah - some people might take the opportunity to get a confirmed order in, rather than wait for something they might be able to order at some point in the future...

Obviously those who are fully decided on sticking with MS or Sony probably won't, but there's a lot of people who are probably not that decided and just want a next gen console. If little tommy wants a console for xmas, is mummy going to take a chance that they can get a PS5 ordered, and possibly fail, by which time xbox pre-orders will probably be full too?

The PS5 is in direct competition with the Series X, and the vast majority of gamers just want a new console, and aren't die hard Playstation or Xbox fans.

The likelihood of Sony not announcing a price/release and pre-order date later today, is tiny, IMO.

Take the names/products out of the equation:

You have a choice of ordering one of 2 things, both do 90% the same job. One can be ordered on a known date, at a known price, and will be delivered on a known date. The other has an unknown order date, unknown price, unknown delivery date. Which would you order?
