RTX 3080 pre review Promotional material missleading?

So do you think this is why they gave the 2080 8gb and the 3080 only 10gb? So they could pull tricks like this? It would not surprise me if next gen they use that to make things look worse at high textures.

Hardware Unboxed may have a bit of a CPU bottleneck if they used used the 3XXX CPU

But I don't think the promotional material made the 3080 twice as fast as the 2080.

I suggested up to twice as powerful as the 5700XT and that is the case when it's ran at 4K with no CPU bottleneck.

It's just people and hype, I don't understand why people are being so weird with this release.

That its faster than on the Intel rig in some titles @ 1080P thanks to PCIE 4?

I have to agree for the most part, What did surprise me is in a select few titles the 3900 is faster when at 4k and one at 1440p .

The 3900X is a stronger CPU and has PCI-E 4, so as long as it's leveraged, I don't see it that surprising, but by and far Intel still lead the way for gaming, hopefully that'll change next month.

3080 offers good performance at a decent price. It looks better than it does due to the silly 2000 series pricing. I'm buying one as its a nice jump from a 1080ti and from the independent reviews, I'll be very happy.

Companies always take best case scenarios when promoting products.

Oh so you are happy for mis leading advertising then? Did you sell your RTX 20xx too cheaply?

I do wonder how many of those who sold their 2080TI's at rock bottom prices did so because they fell into Leather Jacket mans over hyping?

This is why I never pre-order Graphics cards, far to many benchmarks yet to go, 3090 Big Navi and possible 3080ti, my 2080ti still runs games well enugh, so no rush yet enjoying reading al the reviews and comments though...

3080ti if it ever comes out, wont be for a good few months I reckon. If I had a 2080ti I dont think I would bother with the 3080 and would have waited for the 3080ti, so you're in a good place. The hard decision will be for those who have older gear like me.

It was never touted as a 2080Ti replacement though?

Now proven extreme cherry-picked videos videos were shown with it 50% faster than a 2080Ti at 4K doom. Jensen himself said it was the new "flagship", sites were claiming the 3090 as the new Titan. So yes, it was touted as a potential 2080Ti replacement and for less than half the price. And many failed to see through the lies and BS.

It doesn't really matter the main point is the 3080 is 30 % FASTER in 4k gaming thats all we need to know & its half the price of 2080ti.

And yet you have a 1440p monitor according to your sig, so 4K is irrelevant because at 1440p its only 20% faster than a 2080Ti. Though the actual point of this thread was that Nvidia claimed it was twice as fast as a 2080 and 50% faster than 2080Ti (not 30%). So saying 30% is great means nothing in the context of the OPs questions.

Claim 50% faster than 2080Ti with very cherry picked 4K benchmarks. Deliver 30% in reality and even less when 2080Ti is overclocked.

Claim twice as fast as 2080, deliver 25% at 1080p, 33% at 1440p and 60% at 4K.

So in the context of the the OP, yes the 3080 and 3090 marketing was misleading.

The irony is had Nvidia said 30% faster than 2080Ti at 4K and 60% faster than 2080 at 4K then many would have hailed it as a great GPU. Instead they BSd by a significant margin and it is right to cal them out on it.
