I've got the PS5 as an extra Xmas gift for my 9 year old, for being awesome during lock-down.
He's also getting a Gaming PC, so he'll be fully sorted for game systems for a while :)

Is it worth pre-ordering some of the PS4 "free upgrade" titles now before the prices get hiked up?

CoD, FC6 etc. They are circa £60 at the minute. I imagine when the PS5 versions become available they are going to jump up to £70.

Also, will you be able to play on both consoles? PS4 and PS5 at the same time I wonder?

Well I preordered on amazon but not sure I’ll keep it.

the main reason being to fund it I would be selling my 20th Anniversary PS4....but I am really not sure I can part with it. It holds so much nostalgia for me but I don’t know if I’m being silly being this sentimental over it.

Great point. Only some* developers will do it free, such as CDPR, so be careful. COD for example, only does it for the Digital deluxe version ... because they're asshats.

I'll probably pick up Cyberpunk and not play it until they release a next gen upgrade and save the money.

Had one in my Amazon basket but took it out again, I don't need this at launch, I don't play enough games as it is! Very very tempting though

Yeah I've only spotted it on FC6 and CoD: DLX as you said so far. Put my pre-orders in for digital versions. Might aswell.

So basically how much games used to cost back in the SNES days ?

Nope, still not that much. Games haven't increased in line with inflation despite becoming more and more complex and with far great scales. £60 in 1990 would be about £140 now.
