FTW3 Ultra at £900 is a bit of a joke. Just isn't worth it over the standard FTW3. I'll be going for that one but it's still far too pricey really

To be fair nobody knows if the FTW normal is worth it this gen. If it doesnt give a higher boost than the £649 FE then.....................

They had the whole EVGA lineup with placeholder price at £2500 and then the ftw3 ultra changed to £769.99 briefly and i placed an order and have confirmation.

They also had the Asus tuf non oc for 649 that i ordered before and then cancelled as well. They seem to have removed most of the prices on everything now though.

Don't really expect it to turn up though, but was worth a shot.

Dont suppose you have a link to the FTW3 product page?

I'm warning you guys, 10GB is gimped for a $700 card, this time next year some titles will see big performance penalties as a result if you like 4K.

Fine, so upgrade again next year when there'll probably be a Ti or Super mid-life refresh anyway.

Buying expensive hardware in an attempt to "future proof" it more is a waste of time, ask 2080Ti buyers :D

Am I missing something here? The 3080 is over 25% faster than the £1200 2080Ti and at close to half price? Why the hate for the 3080?
There's no hate, its just bitterness from 2080Ti owners.

I am one but not bitter as bought mine for a lot less

The main reason its that the 3080 doesnt overclock well at all - 1-5% at most I have seen on reviews. Add in a good overclock on a 2080Ti and you are close to the 3080 speeds. 16k in

Timespy with an overclocked 2080Ti, 17k with a 3080

The 3080 is running max power limit and so cannot be overclocked much.

That said, its still a beast which is why it's being compared to a 2080Ti. 3090 should be the 2080Ti competitor, or the 3080Ti

Cause:

1. Compared to an OC 2080ti its only 10-15% faster
2. Due to limited stock until Janaury, unless you can get a £649 FE in the stampede, you are more likely to be paying around £750 - £800 for your card. Up to £1,000 for a decent AIB one.

So after two years it comes down to a card 20-30% cheaper for 10-15% more performance. Not earth shattering after the hype in the kitchen.

I understand where you are coming from but as a 2080Ti owner also, I tend to look at the 3090 or even 3080Ti as our upgrade path and 2080 users looking at the 3080. I also look at the time I have had my 2080Ti and it has done me proud, so no complaints from me.

Prices seem to be going crazy, almost to the low-end of the 2080Ti range that people raged about for years, and there are some doubts about whether the ~30% performance advantage compare to the Ti wil stand up to comparison with a 2080Ti that's properly OC'd.

I'm not seeing hate for the card, but perhaps for the hype and the gouging.

that was across the range they told me ..

It would not surprise me if there was no EVGA stock in the UK today. They really seem to hate the UK nowadays. I gave up on my 2080ti FTW3 pre order last time as they shipped every available card to the US and ignored UK pre orders. Scummy move.

Yea, gouging is the norm unfortunately and I had the same with my £1200 Zotac 2080Ti that cost me £1300 instead. My fault though for my impatience. I still feel that the performance gains over the 2080Ti are sweet and if I was on a 2080, I would be jumping on the 3080 all day long (at the right price).
