Will Overclockers website crash at 2pm today ?

It was a **** show at OCUK that's for sure, but the Nvidia site was a blink/refresh once affair at 2pm. You didn't even get whiff at trying to order one, there is talk about the stock doing to people running scripts to automate the purchase process which is just really crappy of people.

Yup the money grabbers are out in force on ebay jacking the price of 3080's up to the hilt.
And the real sad thing is some people are actually willing to pay those crazy prices as well. :(

They may always be, but it seems a bad move if they migrated the forums. site to the overclockers address and the back-end shares same resources.

Probably a cost saving measure / less effort to maintain the infrastructure.

Even though this event has proved the poor resilience/redundancy of their infrastructure, they're unlikely to change it for a launch event that happens every few years.

Not very good advertising for a shop selling err Computer Hardware.

I was more concerned with the vast forum areas not being able to use the forum as the shop was doing business thats all.

I understand the rare event of people climbing over one anothers grannies to secure a new gpu would crash lots of sites out there.

i couldnt log in yesterday evening, scam and OCUk were both down so i suppose they were overwhelmed with ppl trying to order the 3080s

tens of thousands of early adopters wanting to buy, damn everyone so risch.

I was pretty much disconnected at 14:00 yesterday and didn’t get back on properly until this morning. Was able to view and post a couple of times after 14:00 but gave up as most of the time was either no page or really weird formatted pages.

Maybe it is a good time to mention that OCUK site is way too slow.
When navigating around the site, every page load takes 3-5 seconds.

But! Activating uBlock Origin makes everything much snappier, under a second.
So its not slow servers (or slow user connection), its the way ads and trackers and whatnot 3rd party elements are used on pages, blocking content from loading. I'm sure there is a better way to use those.
