Should OCUK shop give priority to its forum members?

No I don't think we should get special treatment but working systems would be nice. This level of demand wasn't exactly a shocker, so it was obvious this was going to cause site issues - but I guess why spend resources making this better when people will buy anyway?

I don't know how many times I got the a card in the basket and onto the payment only for it to screw up and the basket wiped, after 45 minutes wasted the cards had jumped up in price and missed out, like many others.

Others mention that they do free shippinjg, but they will not give a discount if you collect in person, not even discount by the basic cost of what it would cost them to ship to you

The end of the day it's a business and profit is why they are in business!! They don't care who buys what as long as they get the cash, just like any other business.

It's not a free for all because you post on a forum! Or are an active member! Who cares.

Some of you need to chill out a little jebus.

What does ocuk normally have, 99% up time? That one time it goes down.....

Sure, sure, it's silly to spec out a server which goes completely beyond your actual needs but on the other hand it's also silly to let a situation occur which costs most of a day's worth of business by having the site pretty much inaccessible most of the day.

The cards went down in price again around 5pm so I ordered another one. Have cancelled both orders today as no timescales for delivery and got double delivery charge so I'm going to wait.

From my experience ocuk was one of the better stores yesterday, at least we were able to place some orders. I got 1 through to checkout on another site for same card as well but it was £740 or something so didn't go for it.

I don't disagree. I just think the response from some people has been a little disproportionate, especially given this has happened all over the globe.

They were only one of the "better" sites because they have no limits on places. They're taking money on orders that they can't possiblity hope to fulfill for months and then if you want to cancel, your waiting up to a week for your own money that shouldn't even be locked down without a product or ETA for your delivery. It's insane

Should launch a VIP club where you pay a subscription fee and get first dibs on new stock, alerts on B-grade items etc. Nice little earner.

Forum users occasionally get the odd heads-up or special pricing, no need for more than that. Even if there was a special forums presale my guess is for items in short supply you'd still risk people being disappointed and hence even more vocal.

Cloudflare has a bot management feature and it's pretty good (I'm a user, don't work for CF).

I've spent a lot on OCUK over the years but I rarely post anything so I don't think there should be any priority for forum members with x amount of posts, perhaps x amount of spend instead.

Amen to that!

Less price gouging would do me just fine

+ Then trying to blaming it on currency fluctuations.

What absolute ******.

To be fair we sort of get that, every now and then Gibbo posts forum only offers. I remember asking for my motherboard price to be dropped and he did it, after I ordered it went back up lol. Also remember that dude he dropped the 1080ti for 5 mins so he could order. :)

wow prices were that low? Has really put me off. Whats the reason they gone up so much. I dont see the benefit of preordering with same day payment, when the price may go down once there is actual stock to rebalance supply and demand.

Actually I think I got confused, looks like ex-vat price.

Priority access for forum members is probably the last thing on the list of things to change in order to get some customer satisfaction back on the go.

TBH, free shipping is a big enough gesture for me and that alone had me loyal (note the past tense).

Bigger packets of Haribo would be good. Only to forum members with over 10 years memembership on the forum!

Agreed....

On a serious note, Can't see it working, anyone who knew about a priority access system , would sign up to the forums too , and if it was post based, then spam would likely increase. Plus BOTS / Scripts / Whatever you want to call them , are still an issue. I'm just kinda glad to not be an early adopter...
