I'm sooooooooo ready to go now, given this will be my first major upgrade in nearly 10 years.

Anyone with me on the following sentiment about the upcoming release:?

Gogogogigogogogogogogogogogohogihogogo

I'm rocking a 2500K and GTX970, so so ready to go.

Not far off me then. 4790k @ 4.7ghz and 16gb ddr3 @ 2133.

I posted before about it but looking at getting a 3600 as an interim cpu as zen3 will be a while if people jump on it.

Yeah I went 3600 to upgrade my flailing 2500K system with the intention of popping in a 12 core last gen AM4 CPU.

The more I think about it, the more I'm tempted. Cheap 3600 for 2 months and loose 20 on resale...

Second hand 3600 could be the way forward for now. I guess it depends how desperate you are.
I will likely not upgrade for a year or so yet. I'm happy with the performance of the 3600 at the minute.

I'd only use it as a temp cpu. I want a 4700x/4900x depending on price and availability.

sounds like nonsense.

When you state such an argument, at least finish it by saying why do you think so, otherwise your unfinished opinion sounds like spam.

Others repost it, so maybe it makes sense, after all. You can expect anything these days: https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/a...-cores-and-yes-zen3-would-be-series-5000.html

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X would have 12 cores and Yes ZEN3 would be Series 5000

I don't like it unless they fix the pricing this time.

- low performance improvement;
- gaming performance inferiority to Intel Core lineup;
- not enough choice - SKUs with 12 cores;
- no improvement in the core count;
- maybe last AM4 CPUs;
- no support for AM5, DDR5 and PCIe 5;
- expensive

How is than an excuse to just drop something they already committed to supporting in part via the board manufacturers?

There was a big faff recently right about chipset support after the community went nuts - I think those commitments are to chips named 4xxx not 5xxx

Just appears like a good potential side benefit if the rename is going ahead

The commitment was to Zen3 coming to AM4... regardless of whether it is named 4000 or 5000. To have all of that kerfuffle, bow in to user pressure, only to backtrack again over a name makes zero logical sense.

More utter tripe from the forum troll.

Zen 3 support coming to B450 and X470 users

This afternoon AMD is informing enthusiasts that it has had a rethink about enabling Zen 3 compatibility on AMD 400 Series motherboards. It has been picking through tech site comments, social media, and YouTuber hot-takes and decided to do something about the issue. The big news is that it has "decided to change course," and enable an upgrade path for B450 and X470 customers that adds support for next-gen AMD Ryzen Processors with the Zen 3 architecture.

@4K8KW10 that slide is not longer valid mate. :)
