What I'm not sure is whether other sites were seeing prospective 3080 buyer traffic as a DDOS or whether they were actually under a DDOS themselves. Some other sites including some of Facebook's servers and other social media servers were struggling or taken offline as well for a few hours which seems extreme for just 3080 related traffic.

Which is something considering they already cost 50%+ more for the 20% more performance. Think the RTX Titan was only 5% or so ahead with gaming for double the price of the 2080ti though so the most flattering comparison makes it look a bargain.

Not really, yes the 3080 wasn;t as good as the hype but didn;t anyone actually think it was going to be, its still beats the 2080ti is pretty much everything and is near enough half the price.

if you can’t get one for msrp..that’s the beauty. Nvidia has The records and reviews which show that they released the 3080 foot £649 and it beat the 2080ti by some margin where the reality is for months people will be paying £800 to £900 so not half the price anymore.

True but even so, still a better card for less money.

I agree that all of this crashing and outages for just 3080 related traffic seems a bit weird. I would like to see web statistics for the launch day for the Ocuk and Nvidia websites.

That was always the case but people want shiny as as shown by people selling their 1k gfx cards for 350 to buy a card that had no reviews until literally the day before it's release, people are stupid.

In purely performance terms it wasn't bad at all. Roughly 30-35% lift over the 1080Ti which is what the 3080 gives over the 2080Ti.

But you're forgetting the price. The £1200 that they actually cost was ridiculous and meant their price/performance was actually worse than the 1080Ti.

the price goes up on the 2080ti every time it’s talked about! I paid 1050 inc vat on here at launch. Weird to think it’s over 25 months old now.

well the way 3080 prices go up every day then you will soon be saying that about the 3080!
