Hey folks so as you can tell from the title ive been getting high temps while gaming especially in ESO upto as high as 86c which is only 2c less than the temperature limit i use Afterburner with a custom fan curve and my case has 3 intake fans although i have 1 directly in front of my gpu but its only a 900rpm fan rated at 37 cfm so could changing that possibly help?

Also im currently playing ESO at 5k Ultrawide using DSR due to being bottlenecked somewhat by my R7 1700 which will be getting replaced as soon as Zen 3 launches :)

Below is an Image from last night of Hwinfo and of the Fan placement i mentioned above ignore my psu cover its a work in progress.

any help is greatly appreciated.

I’d remove the side panel see if it makes any difference. How many exhaust fans are there? I’d say it should run much cooler than that fan speeds at 2000rpm on the card.

Leave the system cold/switched off and put it straight under load on the gpu and watch how fast the temps rise. Should rise immediately to about 50c then continue quite slowly. If it rockets up to 70c+ chances are looking at those temps needs thermal paste replacing.

2070S isn’t particularly a super high wattage card so should run much cooler than that around 70c or so max I’d say. 86c for that card is way too hot.

3 Exhaust fans i have and turned off DSR so back to standard 2560x1080 and it reached 61c in ESO but only at about 50% Usage and 79c in Timespy?

well if u've had it for some time, maybe the thermal paste is fried, if ur not afraid of voiding warranty, could try opening it up and replacing the paste, but looks up some how-to vids first

When did you last take it out and clean it? Dust gets everywhere even if there's a filter on the intake and a few clogged fins can mae a big diference.

I Think it was Because i was Running it in 5k was putting to much load on the GPU iv'e changed DSR to 2k res now and its hit 70c max also i know it needs a clean will be cleaning it all when i get my new CPU.

Even max load should be around 70-75c max.

1-1 fan speeds IMO means either poor airflow, dusty card although it looks fine or paste has potentially dried up and needs replacing.

Thermal paste is very easy to replace on GPU’s just a few screws usually just need to be careful to apply plenty enough to cover the whole die.
